We're expecting twin girls in May and after months of ignoring the fact we had knuckle down and come up with names for the little ones, here's what we have officially decided on:

Elise Shoshana Joanne
Helena Flavia Marie

(Shoshana - my mom
Marie - mine, both our mothers, his sisters, my grandmothers middle name
Joanne - both his grandmothers
Helena & Flavia - both my grandmothers)

I mean, these names aren't going to scar them for life, right?

Flavia and Shoshana aren't my favorites, but the girls should be okay with them being middle names.
I do like Elise and Helena.

While I understand these names are tributes, this is my honest opinion: Hate Flavia (to me, sounds almost anatomical... no offense) and Shoshana. Joanne and Marie are filler names. Elise is not too bad. If you're going to pronounce Helena as Helen-uh and not Ha-Lay-Nuh, that's a pretty name.

I agree with the other posters. Flavia reminds me of Flava-Flave or something.

I like them. The middle names might not be my style but they have lots of family significance so that is really really cool.

Elise and Helena are gorgeous....and THANK YOU for not giving them matchy matchy names. :oD

Elise and Helena are really, really pretty. I think Shoshana and Flavia are ugly, and Joanne and Marie are way too plain, but they're not my kids and they're only middle names, and no, I don't see anybody being scarred for life.

I'm not a big fan of two middle names. It just gets clunky and difficult to put on diplomas. I'd say just pick one of the middle names (personally I'd go with Joanne and Marie).

I think they're great names. And Shoshana and Flavia are middle names anyway, so even if they aren't to everyone's taste, it's not like your daughters will constantly have to live with them...

My MIL is Shoshana and my middle name is Marie. I think they are both lovely :)

As much as I like honorary names...

Complete ditto-- except that I'm not a classics major drop-out. ;)

Each one of those names is very traditional to a certain ethnic or regional group, but they aren't related to each other at all, both within the names and within the set of twins' names.

Elise is my daughter's name, so of course I love it :D

Elise and Helena go well together, and they aren't matchy! Good choices!

If it were me, I wouldn't use Marie, since it is so popular through your family. I don't mind Helena (I prefer Helen-uh) or Joanne, but the others I'm just not a big fan of.
