I have a couple questions...

Suggests for a middle name for Ruth?

Does Elea (pronounced like the name Ellie-uh. Like Elia from Season 2 Top Chef ;)) work as a nickname for Eleanor?

Thanks!

It might...I feel like people might pronounce it weird, though. I'd say Elea like E-leah, and Elia like Eli with an a (E-lie-uh). I do like it for a nickname for Eleanor, but people will most likely have difficulty pronouncing it when they just see it spelled out.

I probably wouldn't pronounce Elea like Ellie-uh. I would say Ella. But I guess it works as well as any other nickname.

Ruth Hannah
Ruth Rebecca
Ruth Delilah
Ruth Marjorie
Ruth Naomi
Ruth Charlotte
Ruth Jordana
Ruth Olivia

Eleanore and Elea are both pretty names but I don't really see the purpose of a nickname is it's the same amount of syllables as the proper name. If it's still three syllables then people are still going to try to shorten it.

I think Elea works as a nickname for Eleanor, but I would have no idea how to pronounce it without being told. Ellie? Ella? eh-LEE? eh-LIA? ee-LAY-ah? My surname is pretty much impossible to spell or pronounce correctly on the first try, and correcting people all the time is pretty annoying. I'd spell it differently if this is something you care about, maybe Ellia? I do like how it sounds though. Ellie and Ella are both nice, more intuitive alternatives I think.

I like Ella/Elle/Ellie better as nicknames. I don't really match Eleanor with Elea. I would probably mispronounce it, and it's just not my favorite. Just make the name Elea, instead of Eleanor, professional-sounding or not.
