I'm finding that a few of the names that I'm growing to like/love sound similar to my son's name, eep! Is the name Amaryllis too close to the name Silas? What about Alice? Is the ending 'iss' sound too matchy? ugh. I also love Sylvia but its pretty much Silas feminized so I don't think I'd use it. lol
Amaryllis is a recent fixation of mine, but I go between liking it and finding it way too long and clunky. Non sequitur: What do you think of the name Mona?

Also while looking through a list of names on my family tree I came across some interesting

(most of these were 1700-early 1800s):

Deliverance Rich
Zebulon
Ephraim
Ezekiel
Ardelia
Marguerite Adele
Huldah
Asa
Hira
Ethelbert
Roxa
Salome
Celia
Xoa
Altha
Faustina
Melita
Saphronia
Asemath
Royal
Pliny

And there was even an Adin
These names stood out among the heaps of people named Thomas, William, Sarah, Alice, and Elizabeth on that branch. I like Marguerite Adele, Celia, Asa, and Ardelia

I don't think Amaryllis is too close to Silas, but I do think Alice is too close to Silas. Nice names by the way! I like all three.

Of your family names, I like Salome, Celia and Marguerite. Ephraim is not bad either.

I love, love your names... I think I want to marry you. Ahem anyway... I think Amaryllis and Silas would work together rather nice... Alice is another all time of my favorites and Sylvia is beautiful and I wouldn't mind using them together myself. They do sound alike but it's not like... Alexander and Alexandra being used at the same time (yes, I knew someone who did this).

Zebulon is... such an awesome name! I would actually use Nebula... because I am special like that.
Xoa - is cool too
I knew someone named ALthais and Altha is pretty =)
Saphronia - love love love
Pliny sounds like such a cute nickname!

where is your family from?

eloping sounds good to me! hahahaha

one went by Alex and the other by her middle name, which was Nicole... they were twins and I'll tell you... *his* middled name? Was Nicholas...

That is so cool! Also... my name is Monica and mom calls me Mona and I have always loved it! I love it even more when she calls me Mona Lisa because my middle name is Eloisa and well, I am an art student hehe.

I really like the name Mona but I don't know if I'd be able to get over the fact that is sounds like 'moaner'.

Oh dear. Our cat's name is Ethel and we call her Ethelbert. Perfect for a cranky sea cow of a cat, but on a person? Eeep!

I really like Celia & Marguerite & Adele. Alice is one of my all time favorite names, but it does sound and look a lot like Silas. I only like Mona as a nn for Margot or Ramona. ;)

This is funny...a recent captcha "word" my boyfriend had to type was "pliny." I completely jokingly said, "We should name our daughter Pliny!" Apparently at least one other person had the same idea. ;)

I like Mona, but I like it short for Ramona.

I don't like Amaryllis. When I was younger I was in the musical The Music Man, and all I can remember from it is the kid with the lisp always saying that girl's name "Amaryllith."
