This is a new name I've been really thinking about lately, and I was curious to see what you guys think about it. What do you think of the nickname Addie? Do you think it's going to spring up in popularity in the next few years? What kind of person does this name make you think of?

Any suggestions for middle names? Right now I like Adelaide Jane and Adelaide Kate, although I'm not sure if Kate is usable because my name is Katie.

Thanks!

The only thing it reminds me of is lemonade, so that's okay :)
I do like it, but think you should stay away from the same 'a' sound that's in 'aide', also in Adelaide Jane.

i love adelaide but i think addie as a nn will become popular because of all the addisons

both your middle name choices sound good to me- the 1 syllable mn is a smart way to go i think

Adelaide is nice, it seems a little old-fashioned to me, but it's pretty. I like the nickname Addie as well (though it reminds me of the American Girl Doll haha), but I do think it's going to become quite popular in the years to come because of all the Addisons being born.

I'm naming my daughter Adelaide! I'm not pregnant or anything, but I haven't changed my mind on that name in years.

I highly doubt that it will become popular in your childrens lifetime. Honestly, a lot of people I have mentioned it to didn't like it much.

I will probably mostly use her full name most of the time, but I may occasionally use the nickname Addie. Like everyone else said, Addie will probably be popular because of all of the Addisons, but I don't mind, she'll still have a more unique name. I also love Adel.

As for middle names, so far I love the way Adelaide Claire sounds, but I don't actually like the name Claire, so I'll see how it grows on me. I also like Adelaide Joy or Adelaide Joyce (Joyce is a family name), but its too old lady-ish even for me.

I think Adelaide Kate is pretty, and I would say that it's perfectly appropriate to use Kate as a middle name if your name it Katie. I also think Jane makes for a nice-sounding middle. Adelaide is a name that has cute nicknames (Addie, Heidi, Adele, etc.) but also ages well.

Some other middle name suggestions:

Ophelia
Louise
Claire
Mae
Elaine
Sophia
Aubrey
Amy
Lucy
Corinne
Morgan
Aurelia
Renee
Estelle
Emily

Adelaide is perhaps my favourite girls name. I wish it wasn't so rhymey with my "must use" middle name, Elaine. It bums me out that I really shouldn't use it. Unless I have two girls ;)

I love Adelaide! I like the nickname Addie as well, even if it is popular right now. :)

For middle names I like:

Adelaide Marie (love this one).
Adelaide May
Adelaide Grace
Adelaide Claire (as someone above suggested).
Adelaide Elle
Adelaide Rae
Adelaide Michelle

Adelaide is too placename-y for my taste (like, I immediately think 'City!' whenever I hear it) but it does have a nice sound to it.

Adelaide Jane sounds great.

It reminds me of that show, Dif'frent Strokes (you know, the little kid that goes 'whatchu talkin' bout Willis?') Occasionally he used to say 'whatchu tlakin' bout Adelaide?!'

It's cute, though.

I used to have a great aunt named Addie. She was in her late seventies when I was a child and I remember going to see her in the summers when my mother would dress my two sisters and I up alike and we'd all cram into the back seat along with my brother for a ride into the city to see her. That name evokes pleasant memories of quiet summer afternoons visiting. So obviously I quite like the name. :) Adelaide. I think of it as a classic name, I think it needs a classic middle name like:
Grace
Rose
Mae
Joy
Fae
Victoria
Olivia
Cordelia
Beatrice
Estelle

I don't like Adelaide at all. And the nickname Addie is kinda bad because it's short for address. :/

I love Adelaide. My husband nixed it because it's the name of a street in Toronto, but oh well maybe next time.

I live in Adelaide, so it sounds like a place to me, but I still don't mind it as a name and I love the nn Addy (I hate Addie though!)

i think adelaide is beautiful, but i really really dislike addie. and i do think addie at least is going to shoot through the roof, popularity-wise, thanks to all the little addisons running around.

with that said, i like adelaide kate a lot! and i like it even more that its your name!

I don't like it at all, but Addie is a cute nn. I DO think it's going up in popularity recently- I've seen it a TON online since I got pregnant (I'm due in July) and joined a lot of naming sites/communities.

Adelaide Jane would have been my son's name, were he a girl!
