Tate, or something similar...

This isn't on my list or anything, although I don't hate it, I was just curious to hear what people thought of the name Tate for a boy? Is it that spelling, or is it Tait/Taite? Is it one of those names that's actually short for something?

I think it's a little old but okay.

When I was working at Sears Portrait, there was a family whose name theme was a superfluous letter in each name, and the baby was Taite.

I wouldn't spell it Tait- too close to taint. Taite looks both made up and feminine, so I wouldn't go that way either.

I'm pretty neutral about it. I think the best spelling is Tate though.

I quite like Tate. I don't know that I like it enough to ever use, but I do think it's a good name. I think I would probably want some sort of long form, and it's not short for anything, that I know of, but I could kind of see it working for Theodore. Of course, I would probably prefer to use Theo then.

Tate reminds me of Tater Porter in the PBR circuit. Or Ron White "Tater Salad". Tater tot. Taint. It's just..hm.

Plus, I don't think it ages particularly well, but that's just my opinion :]

I have a cousin by this name... he spells it Tait.

I personally prefer Tate... I think there is a movie called "Little Man Tate" but I've never seen it.
