I'm not sure if I like this or not, but I'm intrigued. I also just looked it up on babynames.com and I guess it's not a real name?

Anyway what do you think of it? (for a boy btw)

I don't care for it. It sounds too made up.

Baylor University is my brother's alma mater, so that's what it makes me think of. :)

It isn't, thank goodness. Just like Bailey, I find Baylor to be completely ugly. The name reminds me of the word 'bile,' and the association stays.

the only place i've ever seen Baylor is as someone's last name and i really dislike the boy in that family- and his step father so i'd never use it

I dislike it, it looks to me like someone decided that Bailey wasn't trendy enough for them, so they had to change it up. It also makes me think of bales of hay, or someone bailing a boat.

I personally think it's an okay name. I've always liked Bailey but that's being used for girls more than boys now it seems, so I think Baylor sounds like a more masculine version... there are a few other similar "real" names too (with meanings related to bailiff, bay the color, bay the body of water, bay trees...) , and it is a surname, so I don't think it sounds made up.

I love that name. I've looked it up before, and it is a real name. Isn't it the name of the brother in Divine secrets of the yaya sisterhood?

It reminds me of the university. It's also a group of hospitals here in TX.
Outside of TX I doubt you'll likely run into people that immidiately associate it with either.
I can see it for a boy, but can't get over the university/hospital connotations to ever consider it for my own kid.

Something else to consider- it's phonetically identical to Bailer and Bailor, so your kid will probably have to deal with jokes about Bail Bonds and "Bail me out".

Ha, my husband and I just drove past Baylor University today. Oh, and I'd heard of it even before we moved to Texas.

Baylor is a real name.
It's the name of Siddalee Walker's youngest brother in "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.
I like it. But all of those kids' have trashy names, so they're all guilty pleasures of a sort. (Siddalee, Shep, Tahlullah, and Baylor Walker)

I love Tahlullah tbh. I would never name my kid that but I love is. I love Siddalee too.
