Tiger Woods and wife Elin had a baby boy: Charlie Axel

I like Charlie. What is with Axel? I've been seeing it a lot lately. And am kinda surprised that I don't hate it.

They have a daughter named Sam Alexis.

I don't really like nicknames as names

I think they could have went with Charles and called him Charlie.

The way I see it both Sam and Charlie are 'nicknames' so I don't find it too weird. Alexis is a much better middle name than Axel but maybe they though Alexander was too similar?

Sam and Charlie are cute. I would've loved it if he'd been called Dean though hee!

They can go my Charlie for casual situtations, and Charles in a professional capacity. Giving them Charlie, only leaves them with one option.

My dog's name is Charlie, so obviously do like the name. But for people I much prefer Charles nn Charlie. Nicknamey names ending in an -ee sound just don't age well.

Still as a sibset the names go together very well.

They could have, but some people really don't like Charles (myself included). My nephew is just Charlie and it suits him perfectly.

And also, he could go by Chuck, so, two options.

I can't help being an Axel fan, because of Axel Rose.

I like Charlie and though I don't like Axel much, I think the complete name flows well.

I really don't like Sam as a stand-alone name for a girl...

The nickname thing bugs me, mostly because they did it with *both* first names.
And to the OP, ditto on the weird popularity of Axel. Two girls I went to school with recently had children and named them Axel and Axil. I don't really get it.

Sam is worse than Charlie.
Not only does she have a nickname, it's a boys' name.

Charlie and Chuck are in the same vein of options so i don't think that really counts.

I love Charlie Axel!!!

Axel is actually a legit name, but I've seen it spelled Aksel more often when it's being used by Danes (it's Danish). Axel is more popular here because of Guns & Roses.

I don't like Sam on a girl, because (a) it's too nicknamey and (b) I love it too much (for Samuel) on a boy.
