Really? I dunno, I've never heard of it as such. I'm from Canada, so maybe it's a bit different? What puts me off of the name isn't that Aunt Jemima is black, it's just that the first thing that one generally thinks of when they hear that name is pancakes, haha.

I really like the name Jemima, and when there was a threat in this community about 'names you like but can't use' I mentioned it, and most Americans here agreed that if I were in the US, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to use it because of the racial stereotype.

The name is generally a bad idea to use in the US because it refers to a character that many saw as an inaccurate, racist portrayal of a black woman.
