What is, in your opinion, the best, least creative spelling of Kaley/Kayleigh/Kaylee/Caylee/etc.

My personal favorite is Kayleigh, but now that seems like too much of a kre8tyv spelling to me.

All it reminds me of is Caylee Anthony...the kid that was murdered in Florida...so its a no for me

other than that its a nice name

I like Kaley or Kayleigh. I've known people who spell it these ways, so I'm used to it, I guess.

I know someone else who spells it Caleigh, and I'm not a fan of that.

I see "Kailey" most often and prefer that spelling. But in general I think its a very juvenile name.

one of my best friends, who just turned 30, is a "kaylee" so this is what I consider to be the best spelling.... if only because she was the only kaylee I knew or had ever heard of until it became so popular in the past few years.

I personally like Caylee best, then Kaylee, then Kayley/Cayley, then maybe Caylie/Kaylie.

I think Kayleigh is one of my least favorites, with Kaleigh, Kaeleigh, Kaylea, Kayly, and Kayli being up there as well.

But, it's one of those names with no correct spelling, and since the way you like spelling it looks like it's supposed to sound, I say use it.

Ceilidh or Cailey.

Caylee, probably, but it does remind me of that little girl who got murdered, so the name sort of has bad connections.

My absolute least favorite is Kayleigh.

The first person I ever met with this name is called Kayleigh, so I always assumed that was the proper spelling...anyone know what the original is?

I think it's anglicized from the Irish name "Ceilidh"

I like Kaley the best, and I don't really like it spelt any other way, as I'm not a huge fan of the name. A girl I went to school with spelt her name Kailie. I don't mind that, but it does kind of make me want to pronounce it like Kylie.

The only one I like is Kailey. I don't like extra letters or random y's, so Kayleigh is one of my least favorites. I also really hate Kaylee and Caylee.

I pronounce Kaley more like Callie, and I prefer Callie spelled like that, which I think is a great name.

I don't think there is a best, least creative spelling, to be honest, because it's a made up name... but I guess if I had to choose, I'd go with Kayley. The worst is Ceilidh - still pronounced like your run-of-the-mill 'Kaylee', but it looks ~Celtic~.

I like the look of Kaley, and Cayley more than any of the other spellings (though, Ceilidh is fine). I'd avoid the "ai" combination like the plague. My best friend is a Kailie, pronounced like kay-lee, and people think it's ky-lee more often than not.
If I was going to use the name, Kailie is the only spelling I'd consider (which, I realize is very hypocritical because of "avoid the -ai- spelling comment) because I'd only use the name to honour my friend.

I really dislike any of the -leigh ones, or the ones where the spelling only makes sense if you cover one eye and look at it sideways (ie: Chaillea, or something to that effect)

If I absolutely had to... Kayley.
Kayleigh does look a little 'trendeigh' but acceptable.

Why do you put Celtic in those exaggerated floaty quoty symbols? It doesn't "look" Celtic, it IS Celtic.

I really only like Kayleigh spelled that way. Kaylee is fine, but Kayleigh is better, me thinks.

the first one I met was Cailly, which I never particularly liked. in 5th grade my teacher named her daughter Kailey, which isn't bad, and my brother had a friend Kaley, which also isn't bad.

Because using 'Celtic' or 'Gaelic' names is a huge trend right now among people who have little or no connection to the language or culture; and because 'Celtic' is a ridiculously broad category that these same people tend to confuse with simply Irish or Scottish.

Okay, I see what you mean, and on one end see where you're coming from. I don't see that many people with no connection using them (except *maybe* Sean or some of the super-common ones) but I live in an area with a huge population of first and second generation people from those backgrounds.
But even still, I'm not a fan of the name, period. If they're going to use it, why not use the original rather than some freaky made up one? Unless you totally make up a name yourself, the root is going to come from somewhere, and if you're a mutt, you've gotta figure it out somehow.
I define myself as American first, but am close to 100% from that background myself, second generation on one side, and I'm not oppressed enough to scream "cultural appropriation!" if someone likes it.

Because when it comes to 'Ceilidh', it's not the original. It was never used as a name. It's been co-opted by people who think 'Kaylee' is cute, because it's pronounced the same.

I still don't know if you've got me on that one. Plenty of names are former nouns, lol. I admit I can't speak to when it first started being used as a name, but again, a lot of names are new and borrowed. I've met people born in those countries with it as a name (but then it is admittedly pronounced more like Keh-uh-lee than straight out abrupt Kay-lee.)

Because of the song, I tend to think of Kayleigh as the standard spelling. And I rather like it, but it still sounds like someone shortened Katherine Leigh. It sounds like a nickname for me, I wouldn't use it.

I always thought Kayleigh was the best way of spelling it.

- I don't like using a C at all for it.
- Kaylee looks like too many Es.
- Kayley looks like too many Ys, and Kayly would just be worse.
- Kaley looks like a vegetable and I would pronounce it totally differently from anything that has a Y as the third letter.
- Kayli looks stupid. I'm biased because my name is Brandi and I wish my parents would have at least had the sense to spell it with a Y.
- Kaylie is probably my second favorite way of spelling it, but I still favor Kayleigh.
