Female, 21.

Tell me I'm not the only one that gagged? =\

Oh. Oh dear. That's unfortunate.

For future reference, slapping -lyn onto a male name does not automatically create a legitimate feminine form (or even a remotely attractive one). Though I assume most people here have the good sense to know that. ;)

I knew a woman who's husband died right before their daughter was born. His name was Josh, so their daughter is named Joshlyn. It's pronounced really similarly to Jocelyn in inflection, so it doesn't bother me, but JOSHUALYN!!?!?! Ew.

For some reason, as I say this in my head the emphasis switches to the third syllable, making it sound even uglier than it should (which is saying something).

WTF do people keep adding Lyn/Lynn to male names in order to create female names? *gag*

This sounds like the names that my little sister would name her dolls when she was 5 years old.

It sort of works for me. "Joshua" is a sort of feminine-sounding name to me anyway, because it's musical with a lot of vowels and that soothing "sh" sound. I'd never use it, but I can almost see it.

awful.

Joshua is a nice name, though. For a boy.

Really didn't like it. Just call the kid Jocelyn and be done with it. But I was thinking, this Joshualyn could be a combination of the parents' names, like Joshua + Lynn or something. Which is something I don't like anyway, but it could be that.
