I was wondering what everyone thinks of the name Gretchen. What kind image does it conjure up? What kind of person do you think of? I can't decide whether I like or not. In a weird way it's a name that sort of contradicts itself in my head. It's strong on the one hand and a bit snappy on the other. Hmm. What do you think?

Gretchen is the name of Faust's beloved in Goethe's play Faust. Thats's what the name makes me think of, and I'm a sucker for literary names.

I don't like the name Gretchen at all. It reminds me of a wicked witch or something. I did know one Gretchen once upon a time. She was a blonde college student... I don't remember much else about her, haha.
