I'd go with something a little more traditional as a middle name to balance it out.

I think you need to do something traditional, something thats unquestionably a name, because other wise it's going to sound too much like a land mark, you know, like 'the River Sky, which runs though London'

River James jumped out at me first, and then I realised it made me think of the James River.

I just wanted to say I love the name River... It brings back great memories of a book I loved in middle school. . (a woman adopts a boy named River who has a talent of controlling water, lol sounds weird, but it was good)

I also agree with a more "namey" name for the mn, but not too traditional. River Adlai?
