But do you think I'll run into a lot of jokes if my name is Jessica and our settled name for a daughter is Alma? Does it sound too much like "Jessica Alba" (the actress) ? It's the first time it crosses my mind.. just wanted to know what the general feeling on this is :D

No one is going to call her Jessica Alma/Alba. They'd have no reason to. It's fine.

You might get jokes now and then, but she won't because:
1. Most of her peers won't know your name.
2. Most of her peers won't know who Jessica Alba is.
I don't think most people would make that connection though, and your daughter probably won't care, so I don't think it would be a problem.

No I don't think so, I don't think she'll be that popular for that long. And by the way I love the name Alma!

ha, I didnt even make the connection between the two names until you mentioned the actress. I wouldn't worry about it.

I really don't think so. I wouldn't have necessarily made the connection until you pointed it out. If you were naming your daughter Jessica Alma that might be slightly strange but you're not. It's two names on two people. No big deal.
