Black and white twins Hayleigh and Lauren Durrant proudly hold their new sisters Leah and Miya — who incredibly are ALSO twins with different coloured skin.

Their mixed-race parents Dean Durrant and Alison Spooner repeated the two-tone miracle after a seven-year gap.

Quite the amazing story...what do you think of the names? I wonder if Leah and Miya are supposed to rhyme like Lee-ah and Mee-yah. I hope not.

In any case, all the girls are really beautiful :)

Edit: other names in article:
Terri and Malcolm Rayhaman,  Luca (boy), Marina
Claire and Spencer - Oliver and Boyd
Kylie (mom) Remee (boy) and twin sister Kian
Kerry (mom), Layton and  Kaydon

i never know with Leah!

I think it should be either Lee or Lia. Leah is PRETTY but too confusing.

I knew a Leah who was a Lia in middle school.

but my friend Heather is Heather Leah but it's "Lee".

I love Leah and Lauren is pretty, too. I really like Hayley but not spelled the way they have it. Miya....nah...not for me.

That is an incredible story, though! Gorgeous children!

I think her parents were mistaken using "Leah" instead of 'Lea', because I'm pretty sure 'Lea' is pronounced "Lee", and that it means a field, or meadow.

I would hope "Miya" is pronounced "My-uh".

If I'm not mistaken, I think her red gene is dominant, and of course we know his African gene is, so I think that has contributed to their twins coming out as they have.

Oh the Sun, they run this kind of story every. time. You'd think they'd get the point by now that it isn't that amazing/different and learn something about genetics and race history... [http://www.antiracistparent.com/2009/01/02/can-we-get-a-moratorium-on-amazing-black-and-white-twin-stories]

None of the names are my type.

I was watching something about Remee (who is actually a girl) and Kian just the other day, and assumed until I saw the names that it was probably that family.

I like Lauren and Leah, and have always had a strange attraction to Layton, though I'd never use it, but the others aren't my style. However, I wouldn't mind Hayleigh if it were spelled Haley.

That's absolutely amazing. Such beautiful children!

I hope Miya is pronounced like Mye-ah, though. Lee-ah and Mee-ah is a bit too much I think (although I like the sound of both names)!

That is so cool! I remember reading about the first set of twins and thinking that was the coolest thing ever, and to have it repeated is so neat.

I like Leah and Lauren, as well as Alison and Dean.

I wish people would stop referring to them as 'black and white' twins. They are different shades of brown OMG CALL THE POLICE!. No, this happens every day.

I like all the names but would never use them.

My thoughts exactly :)

Actually, as a "Lea" pronounced Lee-uh it can be pronounced that way. I agree that Leah /Lee-uh/ is less confusing then spelling without the 'h', since most of the time my name gets pronounced either Lee or Lay-uh. FYI, my mother liked the name, but hated 'h's apparently. She's a Judith-Judy, My sister is a MarTa not a MarTHa and my father is Jose not Hose nor Josie.

I read that as "Mee-ah" and "Lee-ah", as well. :{

They are a cute family, though; imagine something like that happening! A few years ago, a biracial couple (each parent was half-white, half-black) ended up with twin girls -- one appeared to be white and the other appeared to be black. It was really funky!

I agree with your assessment of the story. I also hate the terminology they insist upon using. They don't have two white and two black twins; they have four biracial daughters of varying skin tones. Grr.

EXACTLY! I know several black children -- both mixed-race and not -- who look like all four of them.

It's not really all that amazing, though. Since the girls are fraternal twins they don't look any more alike than regular sisters, and many an African American family has had children with vastly different skin tones. There's really nothing remarkable about it, and had they been born on different days or different occasions this wouldn't be news.
