Is Sidney a boy's name or girls name??
Sydney or Sidney?
Do you think one spelling is masc. and the other fem.?
And, I know you guys don't really dig the two middle name thing. I am going to do it anyway LOL. I am just asking, do you think the name
Bailey Grace Elizabeth Glover flows well?
Can you think of another spelling for Bailey that isn't tacky? The ex wants to change the spelling, and all the ones he has come up with make me want to bash him upside the head. Let's just say I'm glad I'm the one filling out the papers LOL.
If you don't think the name flows, what suggestions do you have?

Date: 2008-10-19 03:30 pm (UTC)I think Bailey is tacky enough as it is, to be completely honest, so any other spelling would make it even worse. As for the flow, I think 'Bailey Elizabeth Grace Glover' would work better.

Date: 2008-10-19 03:47 pm (UTC)Not a big fan of Bailey in the first place but there are no other ways to spell it. No other ways that don't look dumb, anyway.
As for Syd/Sid, to me Sydney is more feminine, but Sidney could be used for both. I actually love Sidney for a girls name, not so much for a boy.

Date: 2008-10-19 03:49 pm (UTC)I try to like it but I cannot.
HOWEVER I think Bailey Elizabeth Grace flows better than Bailey Grace Elizabeth.
And really I think the name Elizabeth Grace is beautiful. Just my two cents.

Date: 2008-10-19 03:53 pm (UTC)Otherwise 4 names is overdone.
I don't think Bailey matches Grace Elizabeth, but it is the only spelling I like. Trouble is, it's a boy's name to me, after the sitcom Party of 5.
I'm also not keen on the name, I think it's trendy-tacky like Kaylie or Madison.

Date: 2008-10-19 04:46 pm (UTC)Bailey Grace Elizabeth sounds like a lawfirm to me. I'm usually a fan of 2 middle names, but I don't think that flows. Elizabeth Bailey Grace or Bailey Elizabeth Grace flow better to me.

Date: 2008-10-19 05:48 pm (UTC)And, I didn't really see it as a "trendy" name, just tacky. But, her father really wants to name her that, and has people talking to her and about her, using the name.
He knows damn well, that I can't change it, once peole have started using it.

Date: 2008-10-19 07:30 pm (UTC)Bailey is a tacky name, IMO as it is. The ex manipulated me into using it (he has people calling her Bailey, knowing once she had a name, I couldn't go back on it).. And he wants to spell it differently.. IDK if I can. LOL
I would have replied before, but my wireless keeps going out, and rather than chuck the laptop out the window, I got offline LOL

Date: 2008-10-19 07:51 pm (UTC)There are HOW MANY millions of names in the world? And of those, you're likely to use so few you can count them on your fingers... and you'd settle for something you think is tacky?
My brother-in-law got everybody to call his daughter (my niece) Godofreda in the womb, just so my sister would be SO IRRITATED that anything he suggested would be better, and he could name the kid and she wouldn't get a say — and I'm sorry, but that is just. plain. jerky.
If you love Bailey and want to use it, whatever, but of all the bazillions of names, I can't imagine using one I disliked.
And tweaking the spelling of any name with an established single spelling generally makes it more tacky. Add that to an already tacky name and... :/

Date: 2008-10-19 07:52 pm (UTC)This baby is yours, too! If you don't like Bailey and think it's tacky, then you should name her something else, especially since the two of you aren't even together anymore. Elizabeth Grace is beautiful; Bailey absolutely ruins it. I think Bailey is tacky, too, and the name reminds me of the word 'bile,' so I think you should drop it. You don't even have to tell him! He'll look stupid later on when he finds out that his daughter's name is Elizabeth Grace and has to tell everybody just that. :D
But, if you choose the kindhearted route (which I commend you for), then just keep the spelling as-is. It's the least painful.

Date: 2008-10-19 09:15 pm (UTC)This, this, motherfucking this. Sweetheart, this is your child, you are delivering her, and seeing as how you are not even together with this guy, he has little to no say in what you name her. If you think Bailey is tacky (which it is, good observation there), don't use it! Who cares if he's told other people her name is Bailey? The fact that he's trying (badly, IMO -- this does nothing but make him look like an idiot) to manipulate you into naming the baby what he wants tells me that he's probably a douche who shouldn't get a say anyway.
Ignore ex-creepo and name the child what you want. Grace Elizabeth or Elizabeth Grace sounds much better, anyway.

Date: 2008-10-19 10:19 pm (UTC)Sydney or Sidney? Sidney
Do you think one spelling is masc. and the other fem.? No.
Also Bailey, to me, is a boys name. Not a very nice boys name either.

Date: 2008-10-19 10:48 pm (UTC)However, what about Elizabeth as a first name, and you could call her by the nick name Libby? Maybe even just Elizabeth Bailey Glover, no Grace, and then he gets the Bailey in the name, and maybe he'll be OK with calling her Libby instead?
Like other people said, it's your child too, you're the one carrying her, providing nourishment, the one she'll be born from. While I understand letting the father have a say in the name, it shouldn't be one sided. There should be a compromise with you both agreeing on the name.
