i love them both. oddly enough, i have two cousins (who are sisters) with these names, but my aunt spelled them siera and savana. she liked names as short as possible for whatever reason. i'd use the name savanna (i don't like H's) except my last name is vandyke and that is a mouthful.
I LOVE Sierra, because it makes me think of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. Beautiful, wonderful associations in my mind. :o)
Don't like Savannah, though. I didn't really like Georgia much when I went there, so I don't have good associations with that name. But judging it simply as a name...I think it's pretty.
I have this TERRIBLE guilty pleasure (that I would never act upon, mind you) of using Sierra, Sequoia, and Sonora as a sibset. They all sound so lovely, and the meanings/associations are all connected in some way for me. *sigh*
