Ivy Caroline
or
Eve Caroline nn Evie

basically, Ivy or Evie? I like them both a lot. Pity they're mutually exclusive.

How do you plan to pronounce Caroline?

If CAR-OH-LINE:
Ivy Caroline is too many strong 'I' sounds for me. Eve Caroline sounds better to me.

If CAROL-IN:
Ivy Caroline sounds better because the 'y' at the end of Ivy breaks the names apart. Eve Caroline just seems to run rather blandly together.

I like them both a lot, but Evie got taken off my list because I thought it sounded too childish. Plus, my husband's name is Adam... haha.
It's a boy though so we didn't use Ivy after all. :)

Eve. No doubt in my mind, Eve over Ivy. I hate the name Ivy, so it wasn't much of a competition. It sounds so trashy.

as a caroline...

the proper pronunciation of caroline is just as its spelled... CARE-OH-LINE

if you would like to be called CARE-OH-LYN, your name should be spelled carolyn

this is one of the biggest reasons i had to cross madeline off my list, because although i am very used to it now, it still drives me insane when someone calls me "carolyn" and it happens constantly, but i only like madeline pronounced MAD-EH-LINE and i know she would never be called that. :(

Ugh, me too. I adore Mad-ah-line. My hatred for Mad-uh-lyn knows no bounds. I have no idea why I feel so differently about similar names, but it is what it is. I think Madeline = Madelyn would be much worse; Care-oh-line is more common pronunciation in the US, whereas there are scads and scads of Madelyns and I've never met a Mad-ah-line (maybe that's why I love one and hate the other...)

Evie. Evie is way better than Ivy. Not sure how I feel about Eve Caroline though but that wasn't your question :)

My reason for Evie instead of Ivy...I just really don't like Ivy. I don't know why lol just hate Ivy. It's pretty on old buildings though!

Eve Caroline. I just think it's much prettier. So I'm not sure if this is helpful, since it's a matter of personal taste.

Definitely Evie over Ivy, which is a plant, so don't think it appropriate to name a child that.

Also, I think Ivy Carolina, and Evie Carolyn/Evie Carolina, sound better.

I like Ivy and Eve just about equally, but I hate the nickname Evie, so I'm going to go with Ivy Caroline. I think that flows better anyway.

Amazing how some people are so bad at phonetics. Anyone who knows how to read should know Caroline is pronounced just as it appears, same goes for CaroLYN, AND MadeLINE! Seriously. Anyone who says Madeline "MadeLYN" either forgot how to read, and should brush up on their reading, or they didn't properly learn to read to begin with!
