to Y, or not to Y.
Oct. 7th, 2008 07:58 pmI am friends with a Jeremie, and I also know a Justyn (no, this is not a sibset). Both of whom are around twenty, so they're not new trendy spellings. So community, I want to know which you think is worse: the unneeded, randomly thrown in Y, which is obviously growing in popularity, or the replacing of a perfectly good Y with an IE?
Does your opinion change based on whether it's a boy or girl with the new spelling? In these cases, I think both of the spellings make the names look like they're supposed to be some trendy form of feminizing the name, but they are both boys. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with just plain ole Jeremy and Justin.
