So I'm reading this non-fiction book about the Salem Witch Trials and the author (Frances Hill) says: "In those early days (1635) there was a vogue for giving children bizarre-sounding names of religious or political significance. One family's five children were dubbed...

Truegrace
Reform
Hoped for
More Mercy
Restore

Another family's four were

Return
Believe
Tremble
Increase"

*It kind of reminds me of today's Honor, Cadence, Noble, etc etc trend.

Yeah, those are Puritan names... A lot of Puritans gave their kids words or phrases from the Bible as names, because they didn't believe in using actual names from the Bible. Names like Faith, Grace, Hope, Honor, etc. are just carried over from the 1600s.

I kind of like TrueGrace (minus the first e), Restore, and Believe.

But I would use these for character names, not for naming my future baby most likely.

I really really don't like

Reform
Hoped for
More
Mercy
Return
Tremble
Increase

I suppose Incease was kind of popular/common...it reminds me of Increase Mather! (Just studied the Salem Witch Trials & puritanism in uni)

Grace & Mercy are ok...Truegrace or any of the other ones are too much, IMO. But interesting!
