A friend of mine had a baby today.

I've known her for like 10 years and our moms are really good friends, so it's fairly exciting. She just turned 19 earlier this month. She had a baby girl, and her name is:

Aurora Mae.

WDYT? Parents are Jensina and Bobby. I think it's nice, but a little safe. Though she's kinda someone I would have pegged as picking something super trendy/kre8tyf, so it could have been worse. I've known about the name for a while but I held off on posting about it in case she changed her mind last minute. I guess Jensina's parents originally wanted to name her Aurora, but then found Jensina in their family tree and used that instead. That's why Jensina picked it. And Mae is Jensina's mom's middle name. I like that both names are significant. :)

Aurora has a half-sister - Bobby's daughter - named Leilani "Leila." I don't know what her middle name is.

Aurora makes me think of Aurora, Illinois and I think it's a little difficult to say, but it's alright. I think Mae is a cute middle name and Aurora sounds nice with Leila.

i have never seen the appeal of aurora. its just "roarroar" to me, so its just plain ugly. but i like that it has meaning for her.

I knew an Aurora Mae in high school and she hated her first name. She always went by Mae.
