What do you think of the names Genevieve and Evangeline? Either as sisters or on their own? Lately, I love both names and think they might work together as sisters (not pregnant, no intentions on having a baby any time particularly soon). Both are names of songs that I like, which makes me like them more...

I really, really love Evangeline. Sounds lovely and flows nicely with most names.

Genevieve is maybe a bit too pretenious sounding for me.

I think they're both gorgeous, and am considering using Genevieve in the event that I have a daughter. I think they work great as a sibset, as well.

I love Evangeline, and don't normally like Genevieve but I think that with Evangeline, it sounds really good.

Gen is cute, but I like Evie or Viev(e) better.

I like Genevieve but I don't think I'd ever be able to use it for a human baby (maybe one of my pups or something) just because...I don't really know what it is but there's something about the name that I just couldn't see using for one of my children even though I like the name.

To answer what you asked someone else about the nickname Gen...I've seen people go by Gen with a G, it just gets annoying for them having to tell people "no, it's with a G"

It might cause a little confusion, but I don't think it will be anything too bad. Genny might be less confusing. I'm thinking I'll use Eve, or more likely, Evie, because my fiancé's name is Adam.

I really don't like Genevieve, and I think Evangeline is alright. They'd make good names for sisters, though!

A little too close when written down, maybe, but when I say them, they don't sound very similar at all.

I like Evangeline, a lot. I think that it's really pretty. Genevieve, really not so much. I just don't like it. And I really don't like it with Evangeline, they're too matchy together.

...Homygod, how did I not make the Genevieve/Evie connection? (Love Evie/Evey, hate hate hate the spelling of Evelyn and not crazy about the name itself.) Thank you, this is so going on my list (obviously I love it)!

I don't really like Evangeline because the connotation of "evangelical" is too strong for me (I know that's not where it comes from, but living in the Bible Belt, that's what most people will think if I used it). So my vote goes to Genevieve. I like both Genny (think Ginny looks better and would be less confusing, though) and Evie as nns.

IAWTC.

I do like both names as their own but prefer Genevieve, for the same reasons as [livejournal.com profile] azelmaroark.

I don't think they pair too well as siblings as they are both long, have short Es and Is and have similar V, N, hard G sounds. They're just too similar sounding for my tastes

I like them both.
They're a bit of a mouthful to say though but there are lots of nickname possibilities so that's ok.

I really like Genevieve. I think they sound ok together although they are alittle too similar sounding for me.

I love Evangeline, and I've always thought either Evie or Lina would make nice nicknames.

Genevieve I can take or leave

i am not a big fan of evangeline, but i think the pair sounds quite nice as a sibset.

however, i have been falling in love with genevieve very quickly over the past year. i just cant get over the whole "jenny" nickname possibility. erk.

well my name is Genevieve and I can tell you that here in the south people had a LOT of trouble pronouncing it. I got Gen-EVE-ah, Gen-a-VIE, and Gwenevere (who knows where that came from, there isn't even a W in it) I used to dread the first day of school ;) All through k-12 I went by Jenny (I know, why not with a G) and went I got to college I went by Genevieve or Gen. I love my name now, hated it when I was a kid. I was also paired with Selene (pronounced Selena) as a middle name. I like both Genevieve and Evangeline but I'm a bit partial.
