From Wikipedia:
[Sarah Palin] married her high school boyfriend, Todd Palin, on August 29, 1988.[6] The Palin family lives in Wasilla, about 45 miles (72 km) north of Anchorage. The Palins have two sons (Track, 19, and Trig, four months) and three daughters (Bristol, 17; Willow, 14; and Piper, 7) [ages as of August 2008].[98] Todd Palin has said Track's name came from the interest Sarah's parents had in the sport and the fact that he was born in the sport's season; Bristol was named after Bristol Bay in Alaska, where Todd grew up and where he does commercial fishing; Willow was named after Willow, Alaska; Piper got her name because it is uncommon and "a cool name"; Trig's name is Norse for "strength".[99]
Here's a little LJ meme for you, based on how they chose names.

3)Your third-born will be named after another nearby place, for no reason other than you already have two children and don't have time to put much thought into another name: Richmond
4)Your fourth gets a "cool" name: Sly
5)Your fifth gets something mythological, possibly straight out of Lord of the Rings: Artemis

Date: 2008-09-02 01:03 pm (UTC)2. Nearby area, possibly nostalgic, but not where you're from
3. Nearby place, no necessary association
4. "Cool" name
5. Mythological name
Okay, I did two versions: one of first associations (with humor) and one using the meme for inspiration.
First go around (Mad Libs, basically):
- Hockey: for my favorite childhood sport to play
- Jericho: a place near me that has a name whose sound I like
- Jordan: a neighboring country
- Karim or Kara: literally inspired by the Hebrew for cool or cold ("kar")
- Link: for the video game (I also like Kent for Superman's Clarke Kent in this slot)
Conclusion: Hockey, Jericho, Jordan, Karim/Kara, and Link
Trying Harder:
- Galit: meaning waves, inspired by the ocean and swimming (also Kinneret, a lake in Israel's Galilee region)
- Kerem: meaning vineyard, inspired by Martha's Vineyard, an island off the coast of Massachusetts
- Omer: a pleasant town nearby that has a nice name
- Lia: just cause
- Rimona: meaning pomegranate, inspired by Persephone in Greek myths
Conclusion: Galit, Kerem, Omer, Lia, and Rimona
Thanks, that was fun.

Obviously I like Esme, and Taliesin is on my long list as a mn. I know people use Brighton as a name, but never liked it.
Willow is nice; but I dislike the rest, and the reasoning isn't too great really.
