Ambrosia Star:

I asked my family, and half of them agree about the whole stripper thing. What about Ambrosia minus Star? My mother-in-law and I thought that we could call her Rose, if anything.

Anthony!

I can't decide- Anthony Edward? Anthony Charles?

I kind of like Anthony James. If anything, we can call him Jamie.

James Anthony?

I like Ambrosia, but I think ANYTHING with Star tacked no the end is a little trashy.

James Anthony is nice.

i really like james anthony or anthony james. i don't really like the name ambrosia, just because it makes me think of some weird fruit salad with madarines and marshmallow cream my grandma makes at christmas. weird stuff. nickname rose is a good call though. snaps for your mom-in-law :)

i dont really like ambrosia at all. isnt it a kind of salad or something?

rose/rosie is gorgeous though. how about just rose?

anthony edward makes me think of the actor anthony edwards.

i like james anthony - i really love the name james and i like the nickname jamie a lot too.

I commented the last time, so you know I love Ambrosia - I just prefer the nn Amber, but Rose is nice too.

And while I prefer Edward over Charles, I think Charles sounds just a tiny bit better with Anthony. James is nice too.

I'd go Anthony Edward but then I'm an Iron Man fan so I'm a bit biased.

Ambrosia is terrible, I'm sorry. Other than the suggestive meaning, it's a word many people use to describe intense sexual situations. Why would you give such a name to your daughter? Plus, it's ridiculous (and I agree, very white trash). Some day she'll wanna be a lawyer or a congresswoman and with a name like Ambrosia the closest she'll get is stripping for lawyers or congressmen.

How about:

Anneliese
Rosalind
Astrid
Calista
Ariadne
Portia
Dahlia
Willow
Celeste
Susannah
Bronwen
Rosamund
Calanthe

I prefer James to Anthony cause Anthony always brings to mind sweaty Italian guys. Also, Anthony Edwards is an actor. I like James Anthony.

I like Star better than Ambrosia.

I forgot to add: if you like Star, how about Stella? It's Italian for star.

I'm not aware of any connotations for Ambrosia... even the salad. I think it's quite nice. I am not a huge fan of Star though, especially when it's with unusual names for some reason

I love Anthony James and James Anthony. Not particularly fussed with Edward or Charles. Jamie is cool too.

Ambrosia Rose sounds better, I think, but I think the double ro sound makes it a little awkward. Maybe Ambrosia May, if you're looking for something short and sweet?

Anthony Edward reminds me of the actor, Anthony Edwards. Anthony Charles, Anthony James, and James Anthony all sound great. Tough call. I think of the three, James Anthony sounds best to me.

James Anthony, Anthony James. Those both sound nice. I still don't like the name Ambrosia, but it definitely sounds better without the Star. Everything sounds better without the Star.

I like all of the Anthony combinations, but as a warning, Anthony Edwards is an actor, so Anthony Edward might make people think of that/wonder if he's named after him. I love Jamie as a nickname for James, but if you want to call him that, I'd use James as the first name, not the middle -- just to avoid confusion.

As for Ambrosia, Star is only half the problem -- Ambrosia's awful, no matter what it's paired with. If you're going to call her Rose, name her Rose, or Rosalie or something classy. Ambrosia is a food, not a child.

i disagree...ambrosia is a stripper, not a child. =P

hahaha, that too!

there's a drag queen where i'm from (rochester, ny) named ambrosia salad and i ALWAYS think of her when i hear the name, and while i have absolutely no problem with drag queens (some of my best friends are queens), it's not exactly the connotation most people want for their baby.

I like Anthony James and Anthony Charles. I think that name works best with a one-syllable mn.

I don't mind Ambrosia with a different mn. I agree that anything with "Star" sounds like a stripper name. I love Rosie as a nn for a little girl and have been searching for a fn that I could get Rosie out of (I don't like Rose/Rosemary/etc). So this makes me happy, but Ambrosia is a little over the top for me personally. I don't think it's bad, tho.

I much prefer James Anthony to Anthony James, but I think both are nice. Anthony Edward is good as well. I think my favorite of the three is James Anthony, since James is one of my favorite names.

Ambrosia isn't terrible without the Star, but I still think it's a little too...something. It's not quite tacky, but it is leaning that way. If want to use Star, you could use a name that meant star. Stella is one that I like.

Ambrosia Estelle is a million times better, but you still have the obvious star part. I'm not aware of the salad or the suggestive meanings or any connotations.

James Anthony is lovely, as is Anthony Charles.
