Aug. 20th, 2008 10:53 amThese are the names I want to name my children someday:
Daughter #1: November Rain
Daughter #2: Delia Song
Son: Colby/Josiah/Aiden/Cayden Stone (I think Colby is my favourite)
There are so many girls' names that I like, I wish I could have like 19 daughters, but I can't imagine having more than 3 kids at the most!
Other girls' names I really like are:
Eden, Hadley, Raegan, and Isabel...to name a few.

Name your child Aidan or Cayden if you want them to rhyme with everyone else in their class. Eden, Hadley, and Raegan sound kind of... trashy, to be honest. I'd spell it Reagan.
I like Isabel.

Date: 2008-08-20 04:21 pm (UTC)I'm not crazy about the other names you have picked. Although your boys names are nice. November Rain is way too Guns and Roses..I am kind of hoping you are kidding about it. I don't mind either name seperately though. Delia song sounds like you are naming your kid after the "Plain White Tees" song, however, chances are we won't even know that song in a couple of years so you might be okay with that. I think that the classic spelling of the name Deliliah is better. But that is just a personal choice.

Date: 2008-08-20 05:43 pm (UTC)Delia is ok, but Song is not my style. Then again...it's a middle name, so it's not that bad. And I'm all for using names you like.
I like the sound of Reagan (this spelling), but I pretty much hate the president...and it will always (or at least for a long time) be connected to the president in a lot of people's minds.
As some others have pointed out already, names ending in -aiden are so popular, there will be 5 in each class. Probably even literally.
And if you like so many names, you could always consider giving your future daughters more than one middle name!

Date: 2008-08-20 07:37 pm (UTC)For boys, I'd have to go with Colby. Everybody knows the Aiden trend by now, and I don't really like it. Josiah sounds too Biblical for me.

Date: 2008-08-20 08:29 pm (UTC)for middles, i think song and stone are fine if they have some personal meaning to you. i kind of believe in the whole just-about-anything goes thing when it comes to middle names.

Date: 2008-08-21 03:09 pm (UTC)and aiden and cayden were ideas for the same boy. i wouldn't name two sons such similar names, and i probably won't use either anyway because they are getting wayyyy too popular.
also a NAME can be spelt however you want it to be, so please don't tell me i "misspelt" a NAME. mine is Talitha; are you going to tell me that's "misspelt"?

Date: 2008-08-21 03:20 pm (UTC)You don't get the right to be upset when you were the one who asked WDYT?
Date: 2008-08-21 05:47 pm (UTC)I know they were ideas for the same boy, and when I said that your son (be him Aiden or Cayden) will have to deal with the rhyming their whole lives is because there are millions of baby boys being named something that rhymes with Aidan, Peyton, or Jaylan... it doesn't take a genius to figure out that those names all sound pretty much the same. Picture a crowded high school hallway in 15 years, with people calling out the Top 1000 names of Jaden, Braydon, Peyton, and Jaylan a few times... and you'll think twice about the name, won't you? Talk about confusion.
Sure, a name may be spelt however a parent wants it, but is it worth it? Is it worth the million times your daughter will correct a person? Is it worth trying to be so-called "creative" if everyone who sees her name written down wonders (or hell, asks) why the two letters are flipped? Reagan is an old name that is rightfully spelt with the 'ea' first; you're not doing yourself or her any favors by switching them. It only makes you look illiterate, if I should be so bold.
Your name isn't misspelt because it's a Biblical name that appears in the Bible as Talitha (Mark 5:41). It's a name in itself. Shows how much you know.
So really, kill your attitude.
Don't get attitudes with people who, after you asked, gave you their opinion.

Date: 2008-08-22 04:45 pm (UTC)Delia Song: I don't like Delia, but it's alright. (I much prefer Delilah.) Song is really cheesy, IMO, but as a middle it might work with the right fn. I do think they flow well.
Colby: Could be a cute nn for a little boy under ten, but this would not age well. Senator Colby Lastnamey? Colby Lastnamey, PhD?
Josiah: Too Biblical for my tastes, but it's fine.
Aiden: I prefer Aidan, as that's the original spelling, and it looks nicest, IMO. I actually love Aidan (and the meaning), but with the stupid "rhymes with Aidan" trend nowadays, I couldn't use it personally.
Cayden: I admit, Caden (no Y, as I think superfluous Y's make names look feminine + trashy) is my favorite of the "rhymes with Aidan" names. I love how it sounds. I do not, however, think it works in practice because that whole trend is just ugly and trashy.
Stone: I would only use this as a mn if it has personal significance to you. It's way too out there.
Eden: Actually, I like this, despite the connotations. I think it's a cute name. I had a really sweet prof who had a little girl named Eden.
Hadley: Has a nice sound, but NMS.
Raegan: Please, please spell this Reagan. Spelled that way, it's a little too masculine for me, but a nice name.
Isabel: I prefer Isabella (and then Isabelle), but I like this, too.
Suggestions:
Avery
Eve
Hannah
Kendall
Charlotte
Keira
Amelia
Caleb
Elijah (nn Eli?)

Date: 2008-08-22 05:23 pm (UTC)i agree with everything you said about the aiden/cayden trend. it's upsetful because i quite Loved those names JUST before they became popular.
and Stone is my mother's middle name, so that would be the connection there :)
Re: Don't get attitudes with people who, after you asked, gave you their opinion.
Date: 2008-08-22 05:26 pm (UTC)I don't say this often, because I enjoy watching others squirm under their own ridiculousness, but here goes:
Back off and get some class. Some brains, too, because you are woefully ignorant. I have tried to be respectful, but obviously you have not returned the favor.
kthx.

Date: 2008-08-22 05:28 pm (UTC)I still might consider Aidan when I have kids (it'll be at least 5 years), if it isn't too dated. But only that spelling. My tastes, personally, changed a TON when I got into this comm and started really thinking/learning about names (Caden used to be on my list, shh), so you might notice that some names you thought were awesome at first become less attractive to you in your time here.

Date: 2008-08-22 05:45 pm (UTC)I love Delia, and have ever since I watched Beetlejuice as a child. Song is not really my style but I thin the name combo is pretty.
Do you watch nip/tuck? One of the characters is Aiden Stone. I like the combo. It is trendy but I'm not so sure that has to be a completely bad thing. Aiden Michael and Aiden Patrick seem to be used often. Maybe you could use Aiden and a more traditional middle name? Aiden James even sounds nice.
My children's names are Aedan Michael and Ethan Drake. Aedan because it's my great grandfather's name and he had a huge impact on my life and Ethan because my husband liked it and , I wanted an "E" name and he refused Eoin.
I share initials with my oldest, my husband share initials with our youngest.
Pick names that you like, you're carrying the child no one else is.
