I once met a Louisiana and an India :)
the weirdest part was they were both 100% italian!

I have a cousin named Asia (AHZ-yah).

And I wanted to add Georgia.

I love place names! my favorite ones are Savannah and Austin.

Victoria
Hudson

I hate place names in general, but I would use either of those.

Alberta is actually a quite common name among an older age group. I know five women named this, all 40+, mostly in their fifties/sixties.

Alberta's not all that strange; I see it as a fem. form of Albert before I think of the place. :p Anyway, I like Alberta, Victoria, Florence, and Athena for girls, and all but Dallas, York, and Rome for boys.

I like/would consider using

the boy likes montana, which makes smoke come out of my ears. seriously. yuck.

our dogs name is virginia.

indiana is a HUGE guilty pleasure for me. we have settled on giving the name to the next dog.

i also love hudson, but live too close to the hudson river in new york to actually use it.

i like the name georgia a lot. and india, but imo, that would be ridiculous on a red haired girl.

york makes me laugh. all i can see is the yappy yorkie dogs.

Savannah (Like it but won't use it.)
Victoria (I like the nn Tori)
Ireland (Except i would always want to call her Erin because that *apparently* is the old name for Ireland.)
India (Reminds me of Gone with the Wind)
London (Wouldn't use, except for a middle name in a stretch.)
Athena (I used to hate this but it is growing on me... maybe a middle name as i can't think of a good nn.)

Austin (my gp for a girl because of that blake Shelton song.)
Hudson (I used to love this name and then i forgot about it.)

I knew a girl named Asia... except they spelled it Aja. Yep, true that.

Also Charlotte and Cheyenne and Helena.
And i have always thought Cleveland would make a cool middle name for a boy. How mislead i have been...

My cousin's son is named Vegas. Yes, she loves Las Vegas xD

I thought it was weird the first time I heard it, but now I love it.

I have a friend who hates every name that is a place name. In the middle of class once, I just started listing so many off to her and she hated them all. I don't know what it is, maybe a principle or something.

There are place names I like. I don't really see anything wrong with them. Off that list there, I like Ireland and Austin, but I like the names Georgia and Alabama as well.

I know someone named Alberta, and she has a daughter named Victoria. I'm Canadian, and a lot of people used to tease Victoria, asking her if her father's name was Saskatchewan or something.

Generally, I'm not too fond of place names, but Florence has been a favorite since I was 13.

I also like Lourdes, London, Ravenna & Odessa, but they're guilty pleasures, not something I'd actually name a kid.

I met a little girl called Roma once, and a relatively common girl's name here is Romee (Roe-may), so 'Rome' seems very feminine to me.

Georgia's my favorite. Victoria and Charlotte are also on my list. Adelaide and Virginia are very pretty, and Indiana is a guilty pleasure (probably because I lived there for seven years and absolutely loved it).

I don't know why, but I always hate place names.

Also, the name Mason seems to be fairly popular suddenly the last few years, and it's this crappy little town near where I live and I just can't understand why people around here use that name.

For girl "place" names, I like:

Brooke Lynne
Georgia
Charlotte
Virginia
Rochelle

For boy-ish "place" names, we named a litter of kittens:
Juneau
Homer
Kenai

(All cities in Alaska)

I don't know that I'd ever name a kid those names, though. It suits the cats.

I love place names. Hudson is great, I'd never heard of that one before. (Probably because I live by the Hudson River!)

Dayton is cute, that one just came to me.

Oh and I know a dog named Chicago. And I promise not to edit this comment again! ;)
