[identity profile] ladiebug2u.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hi everyone!

We're pretty set on the name Imogen (not to be confused with Imogene) for our daughter. I'm just curious on your opinion of this name and suggestions for middle names.

Thanks!

I'm sorry... how do you pronounce that?

Never have liked the name much, it doesnt seem very feminine to me (although i know it isnt unisex or anything...) A lot of people think it's quite unusual, but it's my cousins name so i've grown up with it. My cousin is a little chubby and annoying.. so thats probably why i don't care for it much!

I'd go for a really girly middle name:
Imogen Rose
Imogen Kasia
Imogen Olivia

I don't know why, but what wants to come off my tongue is
"Imogen Frais" (pronounced 'fray', in the French, meaning 'expenses.')
And that's just weird. I like Imogen, though! I really do. It feels very medieval, and I love it.

I don't mind it. :) Do you know what you want for the middle name yet?

Love it, love it, love it... so much that I have already decided that my first daughter will be Imogen Frances...

(Frances is the middle name of the oldest girl, including myself, going back 5 generations on my mum's side of the family.

If you like classic names, maybe Rose. Or something longer, Elizabeth.

There are numerous posibilities, and it's hard to know without knowing what kinda of names you like ;)

Hahahahahaha. I just read this (after posting my other comment) and Down To You is one of my favourite movies, reason I started liking the name Imogen ;)

My Imogen will go by "Immy", although "Ginny" is a cute alternative nickname!!

I'm not really fond of it but I think its mainly because I knew an Imogen & she was a major bitch. As for middle names Imogen Rose, Imogen Kate, Imogen Kay & thats all I've got

I know a girl named Virginia that goes by Genny, so I wouldn't worry too much about the spelling being weird. Even if the spelling was "right" people would still mess it up anyways. :)

And just a heads up, people are probably going to spell her name "Imagine."

I like it. It's a strange name for me, one that I think I should love. It's very much my style. And I do love the way it looks, but something falls a little short in the way it sounds for me. I don't know. Maybe I just haven't heard it enough for it to seem familiar and friendly to me.

Mns
Imogen Lark
Imogen Summer
Imogen Ruby
Imogen Laurel (odd... that's four nature names in a row. I do think those work nicely for some reason)

As far as nns go, there's also Idgie, the character from the book/movie Fried Green Tomotoes. I think I remember her full name was Imogen. I prefer Immy myself.

I like Imogen Belle.

I hate when people nickname such a pretty name though! I'd call her Imogen, it's so pretttyyy.

Imogen Lark is pretty too!

Imogen is a wonderful name in my opinion. Someone above suggested Imogen Ruby, which I think is beautiful. I like it with Rose, too, but Rose seems to be such a popular middle name these days--it almost takes away from how unique the first name is. If you want a longer name with it, I think something like Helena (or even Helene) could work beautifully. Anyway, great choice! I love it. =)

Imogen is not really my style, but it's your child, so more power to you if you like it. :) Here are my suggestions.

Imogen Adia

Imogen Evelina **** I loved this one. I think it goes wonderfully with it.

Imogen Julianna

Imogen Freja (Fray-uh) It means Norse Goddess of Love. I thought Freja went very well with this name.

Imogen Laine - Laine is Scandinavian for Wave.

Imogen Amalia - I also love this name with Imogen.

Imogen Olivia - I know Olivia is rather popular, but it sounds and looks so nice with it. :)

Imogen Lucia - Another name I think goes beautifully with Imogen.

Imogen Liana - It means "My God has answered"

Imogen Athena - Another pick I really liked.

Imogen Brielle

I'm obviously not doing too much today. lol I hope you liked these.

Love it!

With something like Imogen, you might want to use something traditional, like Elizabeth or Catherine or Jane. Or if your maiden name suits, use that!
