I'm just looking for opinions, though I'm not yet pregnant with Baby #2. I guess thinking about names is tiding me over for the next 9 months until we're ready to start trying :)
My 15 month old daughter is named Ellasyn and goes by Ella sometimes. I thought the next girl name on my list was Ainsley, but the other night a thought occured to me about the name Emmersyn, with the nickname Emme. Today was the first time I really saw how it looked written out and now I'm on the fence. I've read some other opinions other places about how Emerson (the typical spelling) means the son of emery, but to be quite honest, the "meanings" of names don't really mean much to me...it certainly didn't when we chose the name Ellasyn. Different and unique is more important to me than meaning. We're choosing middle names that are family names...so I'm not yet sure what middle name we would stick with Emmersyn.
Any thoughts?
EDIT:
I just found a name list that we created for our first born and here's what it contained:
Girl:
Addison
Ainsley
Ellasyn***
Gianna
Madelyn
Teagan
Terris
Boy:
Camdyn
Carson
Garrett
Gavyn
Hayden
Jase
Jayden
Kameryn
Maddox
Asher***
Zane
Wylie
***The names we chose (we didn't know the gender of the baby until she was born.)

Date: 2008-07-16 05:50 pm (UTC)To me Ella and Emme are just too close to the same name. (Same length, same first letter, double consonants ending with a vowel, etc.)

Ember
Emery
Elliot
Ashby
Afton
Avery
Isla
Do you have any names picked out for boys?

Date: 2008-07-16 07:41 pm (UTC)Ainsley is boy's name to me - at least where I am it is very much connected with a (male) chef.
I like your top boy's name, Asher, as well as Garrett a lot, and I quite like Zane and Wylie.

Date: 2008-07-16 08:06 pm (UTC)Also, Emerson is awful on a girl, regardless of the spelling. It's much nicer on a boy. What about Emmeline with Emme as the nickname?
Addison - way way way trendy
Ainsley - Like it
Ellasyn - No offense, but this is awful
Gianna - It's okay
Madelyn - Spell it correctly -- Madeleine
Teagan - Eww
Terris - No.
Boy:
Camdyn - Spell it correctly - Camden. It's still awful, though.
Carson - Eww. Makes me think of Carson Daley, which is NOT a positive connotation.
Garrett - Love it.
Gavyn - Spell it correctly - Gavin.
Hayden - Way way way way way trendy. And awful.
Jase - Short for Jason? Okay. On its own? Awful.
Jayden - This is probably one of the worst names I've ever heard and everyone REALLY needs to stop using it.
Kameryn - Spell it correctly - Cameron.
Maddox - Angelina Jolie is all I can think of.
Asher - Love it.
Zane - I nromally hate it, but it is much better than many of the names on this list.
Wylie - Like the coyote?

Date: 2008-07-16 08:33 pm (UTC)As for your names...to be perfectly honest, they're all pretty awful. The only ones I can stand are Garrett (although I like it with one T better) and Madeleine, provided, it's spelt correctly.

Date: 2008-07-16 08:46 pm (UTC)Kameryn looks VERY feminine so you might want to consider that, the same way with Gavyn.
I love the names Asher and Garrett.

Date: 2008-07-17 12:05 am (UTC)Fine, if that's what you like, but don't kid yourself you're being unique. There's no Unique Trophy for the worst spelt name, they all just sludge together in a sea of anonymity.

Date: 2008-07-17 03:31 am (UTC)Unfortunately I can't agree with you on your opinion of the name Ellasyn, seeing as how that's my beautiful baby girl's name.

Date: 2008-07-17 03:35 am (UTC)Asher is our choice thus far for a boy unless we find something else.

Date: 2008-07-17 03:39 am (UTC)And when I speak of "unique" I really mean something other than what is more common. My husband and I both have rather common names though mine is spelled differently and we both wanted something different for our children.

Date: 2008-07-17 03:41 am (UTC)Nope, but at this point, I like Tetris just as much. I'm not a fine of Terris any longer.

Date: 2008-07-17 06:17 pm (UTC)Actually people have been spelling my name wrong my entire life and it's not a huge deal. Aside from that, she also goes by Ella and can choose when she gets old enough to care which name she prefers.
