[identity profile] dani2297.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I was looking at one of my friends myspaces and I found out what she's naming her baby
Madilyn Rae

One of her friends is pregnant and is naming her baby..
Graclynn Fayth

I think they're both pretty awful, but Graclynn Fayth..kills me.

Im all about going for original names, but gracylnn fayth??

First of all, for some reason, Gracylnn reminds me of Gracy Lou Freebush from Miss Congeniality. LOL

Second of all, if you are going to name your kid Faith, please do so, with the correct spelling. Fayth, for some reason just seriously bothers me. A lot.

As a teacher, Graclynn hurts my eyes. I want to say grack-lin instead of grace-lin.

I am so happy at least one person is trying to help that poor child.

9 months pregnancy vs. a lifetime of correcting people on how to spell your names, first AND middle.

"9 months of hell"

Please! 9 months is so small in the grand scheme of thing. If she's having a truly difficult pregnancy, bless her heart...but it'll be over soon enough. Her daughter will have the name Graclynn Fayth forever! IMO names like that just make the parent look like they can't spell. :/

Graclynn makes me want to pronounce it Grack-lin, is she aware of the possibility?

It does though reinforce that theory that parents name their kids sh*t out of cruelty :/

Ohh I hate it when parents have that attitude. Everyone knows pregnancy and childbirth is hard but it doesn't entitle you to anything except maybe a seat on the bus. It's annoying when parents say to their children "I had 15 hours of horrible labour to bring you into this world, the least you can do for me is...." It's not really fair to treat the child like they owe you this huge debt because you bore them - they didn't even have a choice in the matter!

Anyway this may not be what she's like, but you just reminded me of it - sorry for the tangent.

To make this post relevant.... :p

Graclynn Fayth is terrible -- even if she spelled it as Gracelyn Faith it would be bad because it has Grace and Faith in the same name, and Gracelyn is a bit stupid as it is. But if only you could at least get her to either put an E in Gracelynn or change it to Faith then that would make a huge difference

I love Madilyn, but Rae is gross. Graclynn Fayth is horrible. It doesn't even look right-looks like it should be said grack-lynn or something.

Does she pronounce it Grack-lynn?

Madilyn Rae sounds pretty at least.

I think Madilyn Rae would be nicer if it was Madeline Rae or Madeleine Rae.

Palm literally went to face at Graclynn Fayth. Awful.

Madeleine Rae would be nice. Madilyn Rae is horrendous. God. Even Madelyn would be slightly more acceptable.

gracylnn isnt even spelled correctly. i assume the correct spelling is supposed to be graclynn or something, but how are you supposed to pronounce ylnn? seriously?

madilyn is a travesty, as is fayth.

the intelligence level of people giving birth really needs to go up.

I like Madilyn Rae, I just hate the spelling. Actually, unless it's spelled Madeline or Madeleine, I really can't stomach any other spellings. XP

Graclynn Fayth is awful. I actually pronounced Graclynn correctly, but the spellings of those names.... how hard is it to spell it Gracelyn Faith? And why would it hurt so much... you're sparing your child needless corrections!!!

Pssst... show her this thread. ;)

Madilyn looks like a car crash between Madison and Marilyn. Rae would be okay if it had a more normal first name.

Graclynn Fayth... well, all those y's inspire another: YUCK.

I don't really mind Gracelyn, as trendy/made-up names go, but Graclynn looks like it should be pronounced "Grack-lynn", without the E to soften the C, you know? Awful. And replacing an I with a Y in any name is always the wrong thing to do, Fayth, pshh.

For Madeline I prefer that spelling, but I can't stand how popular that name has gotten. And I HATE Ray/Rae on girls.

'Grack-lynn rosie make me a smile..'
I don't think many folks will get the reference, even if it is Neil Diamond.

I would pronounce Madeleine differently than Madilyn/Madeline (lol, and sometimes these two differently as well).
