After having asked everyone what they think about the middle name Jefferson with any of my name choices, there was a general consensus that the names I liked as first names were just too long to go with Jefferson, and that I needed a shorter one.

So I have come up with Aaron Jefferson. My SO has reminded me that Aaron Burr was Thomas Jefferson's vice-president, but I still think that those names sound good together.

So my questions are:

1. Does Aaron Jefferson flow well?
2. Is the founding father reference too much?

I think it works! And I didn't notice the reference until you mentioned it.

I'm not sure many people are knowledgeable enough to know who Aaron Burr is. Besides, I don't think it's that close of a reference to worry about. I'm not crazy about the way Aaron and Jefferson flow together..mostly because I think you need a longer name with Jefferson (such as Alexander).

I like it. I think that although Aaron is a very old name, it still has a modern sound that Jefferson needs in order not to sound like an old man's name. The only thing I don't like so much is the double -on ending. It's a little repetitive for my taste.

Here are some other combos that your SO may like more:
Riley Jefferson
Caleb Jefferson
Eli Jefferson
Connor Jefferson (this also has two "on"s but I think it's more subtle)
Patrick Jefferson

Unfortunately, I'm not in a very creative mood tonight or I'd think of some more.

I like Aaron and Jefferson (as middle name only) separately, but not together. I don't think they flow well because of the repeated endings, but I don't think the founding father reference is too much -- with Jefferson, yes, but not with Aaron Burr -- and I'm a Political Science major and huge history geek, so really, if I didn't notice it right off the bat, very few people will randomly make that connection unless they're really trying.

What about Adam? Adam Jefferson sounds a bit better to me than Aaron Jefferson, but still the same general sound.

I like it, and honestly, a lot of people in this country couldn't tell you who the first president is, much less Aaron Burr.

I don't like them together, the double -on is bad, and yes the founding father reference is just too much for me.

The --on in Connor and Jefferson are pronounced differently, makes it more palatable.

tbqh, i don't think it flows very well. as a few others have said, the double "on" might be a bit much. i also don't really like the name Aaron, so maybe i'm just a bit baiased.

1. I think that it flows well, and that they sound nice together.
2. Not everybody knows things like that, and not everybody that this kid is going to run into is even American. I don't think that it's too much.

I can't imagine an adult with the name Aaron. It seems so...kiddy/teenager-y to me.

1. I think it flows well and I like the name Aaron a lot.
2. Nah. Only if you really know your history.

Well Aaron Burr wasn't so famous that it makes Jefferson tacky by any means. I love the FF reference.
