Which do you prefer?
Jul. 14th, 2008 06:21 pmWhich do you like better?:
Robin (m) or Marion (f)
I'm starting to quite like both, but obviously can't use together, and debateable if I would use them at all as I'm a stone's throw from Nottingham.
Also - the great Vivi debate - which do you think is best:
Vivienne or Viviana or Vivien or Vivianne or Vivian

Vivienne or Viviana or Vivien or Vivianne or Vivian

Date: 2008-07-14 05:37 pm (UTC)I tend to like Vivian the best (I like simple spellings) but I know that Vivienne is more correct as a female name. Both are fine imo.

Date: 2008-07-14 11:39 pm (UTC)Also, Vivian with an 'a' is a man's name. Viviana is the female form.
Vivien with an 'e' is a woman's name, as in Vivien Leigh, Vivienne Westwood.
I think they have separate etymologies.
So as for preferences, for a boy Vivian, for a girl Vivien. If you're going to go for unisex-ish names, at least give the right one to the right sex.

Date: 2008-07-15 06:14 am (UTC)I for some reason like E's instead of A's for names like Damien, Adrien, etc., so I like Vivien, but I'd be more keen to using Vivian as it was my great grandma's middle name (Her first name was Eva). But yeah, I don't really like the name, so if I were going to name a kid after her, I'd use Eva.
