Which do you like better?:

Robin (m) or Marion (f)

I'm starting to quite like both, but obviously can't use together, and debateable if I would use them at all as I'm a stone's throw from Nottingham.

Also - the great Vivi debate - which do you think is best:
Vivienne or Viviana or Vivien or Vivianne or Vivian

I love Marion. It's my aunt's name, though they call her by her middle name, Ann. I never understood that; I think Marion is so much prettier than Ann.

My husband's grandma is Marian. I think it looks nicer with an "a" instead of "o". The o makes it look more masculine to me.

I don't really like the name Robin.

Vivian or Vivienne are my choices.

Marion, and I love the Vivi names, though my order of preference goes:
Viviana, Vivienne, Vivian, Vivien, Vivianne

Hmm... I think I like Robin better. Marion is okay, but I prefer Marian or Marianne.

As for the Vivians, honestly, I like them all! But I do like Vivian the best.

I like Robin. Marion makes me think of the mom on Happy Days.

I tend to like Vivian the best (I like simple spellings) but I know that Vivienne is more correct as a female name. Both are fine imo.

Vivienne or Viviana.

I don't like Robin or Marion, sorry. :(

I like Vivien or Vivian best from those choices.

i like vivienne. i don't think i like any names that end in A that have a counterpart that doesn't. like i love gabrielle and isabelle but i really dislike both gabriella and isabella.

Probably because Marion with an o IS technically a masculine name. It was John Wayne's given name. Marian is the more feminine version (more common on females, historically, than Marion ever was).

oh and i like marion. i don't like robin on a boy at all, it's always struck me as a girls name.

Oh, and out of those spellings, I like Vivian the best, with Vivienne at a distant second. I don't particularly like the others, but I really like Vivian spelled that way.

Aviva.
Though, if I had to choose from those two I'd say Viviana.

I think I prefer Robin.
I'm in Nottingham :-)

I like Marion better, but I do like Robin on boys too.

I don't like any of the Vivi- names at all, but if I had to pick I would choose Vivien.

I love Robin for both genders. I hate all girls' names that start with Mar- except for Mary and Marissa.

I like Vivienne the best, and not just because of baby Brangelina.

I thought I was the only one who likes Susan better than those other names!

Love Robin, not a fan of Marion (don't think it works on a young girl).

My favorite of the Vivi list is Vivian, with Vivianne second.

I love the name Robin for boys; it's on my list because I adore the Robin Hood stories. Marian ((spelled this way)) too, but I like Robin a bit better.

Vivienne or Vivianne, I guess, but I'm not a huge fan of the name overall.

I like Robin. I like Marion, but spelled Marian on a girl.

I like Vivian or Viviane.

Marion. I don't like Robin at all, on either sex.

Vivian.

Vivian first.
Vivienne second.
I don't like the rest of the spellings, but I do love the name.

I don't like Robin or Marion, so I'll sit that one out. And I'd probably have to pick Vivienne; I think that it looks prettier.

I loathe the name Robin, though it's far worse for a boy.

Also, Vivian with an 'a' is a man's name. Viviana is the female form.

Vivien with an 'e' is a woman's name, as in Vivien Leigh, Vivienne Westwood.

I think they have separate etymologies.

So as for preferences, for a boy Vivian, for a girl Vivien. If you're going to go for unisex-ish names, at least give the right one to the right sex.

I hate the name Robin, only because my boyfriend's mother is named that and that woman is a bitchhhhh!

Vivian.

I like Robin. Don't really like Marion, but that's probably because of the associations I have with the name.

And Vivienne, hands down. I don't like any of the others.

Robin seems too feminine for a boy and too masculine for a girl, so I guess I'd go with Marion, although Marion is also unisex.

I for some reason like E's instead of A's for names like Damien, Adrien, etc., so I like Vivien, but I'd be more keen to using Vivian as it was my great grandma's middle name (Her first name was Eva). But yeah, I don't really like the name, so if I were going to name a kid after her, I'd use Eva.

Marion is better, but yeah, the Robin Hood reference is bad.

None of those, I prefer Genevieve-- the french pronunciation.

I like Robin better, although I wonder if it's been used too much on women now.

I don't really like Viviana or Vivianne. The others are all equal to me... maybe Vivienne

I can't use it either, because it's my aunt's name.
