My paternal grandma's family
Jul. 11th, 2008 08:49 pmI was talking to my grandma last night and asking about her family, because those sorts of heritage things always interest me.
* = I like.
WDYT?
Note: many of these names are awful, imo, so don't worry about offending me, haha. I just think some of them are interesting so I was wondering about opinions.
Anna* & Benjamin* (Hungarian)
Clement Franklin (My great-grandfather)
Benjamin*
Eleanor*
Irene
Loretta*
Anne*
Clara
Catherine* & (she couldn't remember her other grandpa's name) (German)
Rose*
Edith Barbara (My great-grandmother)
Pauline
Cecelia
Then Clem and Edie had
Laverne (m)
Mary* Lou, went by Mary or Mary Lou
Clement Paul
Robert* Edward
Jane* Loretta* (My grandmother)
Nancy May/Anna* May (Her name was legally Nancy, but their dad had wanted to name her Anna after his mother, so he always called her Anna May, all his life, even though he was the only one. She couldn't remember what the dispute had really been about, that made her mother refuse to just name the baby Anna since it was obviously so important to her father.)
Marjilee Clara, nn. Lee
Then, on the other side of my dad's family, his father's parents were
Paul & Lucille*
and they just had two boys,
David* Lee (My grandfather)
Stanley, nn. Stan
That's all I know about them, offhand.
So Dave and Jane were Catholic, so they had plenty of kids too.
Linda
Leslie (f)
Barton David* (My dad), nn. Bart
Corwin Joseph*, nn. Cory
Angela, nn. Angie
Barbara, nn. Barbie or Barb (My grandma wanted to name her Edith, after her mother, because she loved the name and because her mother died shortly before Barb was born. But there was some comedy act or something involving Little Edie was popular around then and everyone associated the name with her, and no one else seemed to like Edith anyway, so she settled for naming her Barbara.)
