What do you think of Jefferson as a middle name? It has a special meaning to me, and I like the sound of it, but I don't know if it's too 'last name-y' to use as a middle name.

Some possible first names I have considered with it are Zachariah, Benjamin, James (although I probably wouldn't use that because of the double J thing), and Vincent.

Like/dislike? Any other first name suggestions?

I hate surname names in general, but Jefferson is one I don't mind, maybe because it's been used as a first name for a long time and it has Jeff as a nickname possibility if the kid hates going by Jefferson.

Zachariah Jefferson and Benjamin Jefferson are too long for my taste. I don't like James Jefferson, although I don't mind Jefferson James as much. Vincent Jefferson is OK. I think you're best off sticking to a shorter first name if you're set on Jefferson as a middle.

Adam Jefferson
Bennett Jefferson
Daniel Jefferson
Lane Jefferson
Liam Jefferson
Mark/Marcus Jefferson
Zachary Jefferson

The only combo I really don't like is Benjamin. (Which is weird because I love the name Benjamin!) But, when I hear Benjamin Jefferson, I immediately think of Benjamin Franklin and then Jefferson seems wrong. Almost too founding father-ish, if you know what I mean. (Strangely James doesn't give me the same reaction.)

That said, the first and middle names will rarely be said together and they are both lovely names. I like Zarchariah Jefferson the best, I think.

I do like it, but I think you need a short first name to balance it, Benjamin and Zachariah make it all too much of a mouthful...

Personally I think anything can be used as a middle name, as long as it's not inappropriate in some way, like being vulgar or insulting.

i fully believe that (just about) anything goes when it comes to middle names, so i like it. plus, as you said, it has meaning to you, so thats double points for me. :)

i would pair something shorter with it for a first name. noah, ezra ... things like that. i agree on the double j thing, by the way.

I don't like it. and don't use it with Benjamin.. too early US. It doesn't flow too well with the names you've given.

Love your icon!

I'm actually a big fan of last names as middle names. There are some that I don't mind as first names as well, but I almost always love them as middle names.

Since Jefferson is so long, I would probably going with a shorter first name, so of the suggestions you listed, I would probably go with Vincent. Even though it's actually my least favourite individually hehe.

A couple names I think would sound good with Jefferson as a middle name:

Robert
Paul
Andrew

I love Jefferson. The name and the former president. As long as you don't pair it with something like Thomas, George, or William, I think it's fine.

Hahaha my friend just married a guy named Jefferson Bennett. Funny you had the opposite listed.

Even I noticed the founding fathers thing, and I'm an Australian who has a very limited knowledge of USA history.

I think it's fine as a middle name, I think it would sound best with a two-syllable first name though.

Haha. A friend of a friend's full name is Benjamin Zachariah, Benjamin Jacob Zachariah and I think his name is awesome and flows really well.

Having said that. I don't think that any of those names really suit Jefferson as a mn, I'd go for something shorter. Sorry if this has already been said, I haven't read the comments yet.

So funny that you posted this because I've reciently decided I LOVE Jefferson as a name (first and middle). Thomas Jefferson was my favorite founding father and so I think it's a good, strong male name. However if used as a first name I cringe to call my son simply Jeff as a nickname.

I think it'd be a great middle name if it has special meaning to you.
