Names of people I know/have known
Jul. 9th, 2008 12:16 pmI chose the more unusual names (people's ages in parentheses). What do you think of them?
Edith (late 20s)
Woodrow (20s; I only think this one unusual because Woodrow seems to me a very American name--this guy is Asian-Canadian.)
Lincoln (30s; same comment as above. No, they're not related.)
Melvin (early 20s)
Athena (30s; I like this name.)
Sylvanus (30s)
Wanda (mid 20s)
Courtlandt (preteen)
Ashling - I know this is popular now, but when I knew her in elementary school in the 80s, it was considered unique (and was sometimes made fun of).
Chantry (late 20s/early 30s; this one confuses me...isn't a chantry a church? Anyone else heard of this as a given name?)
I don't think that Edith, Melvin, and Wanda are 'weird', but a little strange given their bearers' ages. I think Melvin works the best, of these.

Date: 2008-07-09 06:04 pm (UTC)i dunno. it just seems to be a trend in my area, i guess. its like they wanted to find the most old-fashioned western names possible to leave being the "asian-ness". i got lucky. my mom named me Julie because it rhymes with Lily (when she pronounces them anyway)
