I chose the more unusual names (people's ages in parentheses). What do you think of them?

Edith (late 20s)
Woodrow (20s; I only think this one unusual because Woodrow seems to me a very American name--this guy is Asian-Canadian.)
Lincoln (30s; same comment as above. No, they're not related.)
Melvin (early 20s)
Athena (30s; I like this name.)
Sylvanus (30s)
Wanda (mid 20s)
Courtlandt (preteen)
Ashling - I know this is popular now, but when I knew her in elementary school in the 80s, it was considered unique (and was sometimes made fun of).
Chantry (late 20s/early 30s; this one confuses me...isn't a chantry a church? Anyone else heard of this as a given name?)

I don't think that Edith, Melvin, and Wanda are 'weird', but a little strange given their bearers' ages. I think Melvin works the best, of these.

I like Edith, Woodrow, and (of course!) Athena, but the others aren't my style at all. Courtlandt (!? wacky spelling there) would be fine without the last 't'.

I like Edith, and I sort of like Ashling spelled Aisling.

i've noticed that a lot of asian people take on very "proper" names when they name their children. especially when their children are the first generation to have western names. like in my family, we have Vincent, Phillip, Timothy, and a few more which aren't that bad. but then i have friends who's names are Milton, Martin, Clement, Wilson, Melvin....

i dunno. it just seems to be a trend in my area, i guess. its like they wanted to find the most old-fashioned western names possible to leave being the "asian-ness". i got lucky. my mom named me Julie because it rhymes with Lily (when she pronounces them anyway)

...Ashling is popular now? Kay. The only name on there that I would even come close to considering using would be Lincoln.

EXACTLY! lol. then all the girls have very very typical western names that you associate with "asian". like "sue" or "may" or "lisa" or "jade". lol

I actually really like all of these names, except for Sylvanus, Wanda and Chantry. Edith, Woodrow and Athena are my favorites.
