[identity profile] isabella10.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

I'm 28 weeks pregnant and my husband and I cannot decide on a name. We're not sure of the gender, because we wanted it to be a surprise.  I really like Kylie Elaine for a girl and Benjamin Cabot or Benjamin Parker for a boy.
What do you guys think?
& feel free to suggest other names :]

Benjamin is great - Kylie, not so much. It might seem cute for a baby or a little girl, but can you really picture it on a 40-year-old woman, or a professional, or anyone over the age of 13? Basically, it doesn't age well. It's very informal and lacking in substance.

I love Benjamin Parker. Kylie, no offense, I hate. Elaine I like though.

I really dislike Kylie Elaine

Kylie Elaine sounds really harsh to me--so many hard vowels. Maybe the middle name could be a little softer?

I really like Benjamin Cabot.

i'm not a huge fan of benjamin cabot but benjamin parker sounds nice. and you may or may not be bothered by this, but the sweeney todd's actual name in the movie (and i believe also in the play) is benjamin barker. i love benjamin, though. good name.

kylie doesn't age well, as someone else pointed out. and to answer what you asked that poster, callie doesn't age much better but it is cute, i'm not a fan of savannah, but i've always liked sarah.

I love Kylie Elaine. I think it ages just fine because I associate it with Kylie Minogue, who's about 40.

I'm not a fan of Benjamin but it's a nice name. I'd go for Benjamin Cabot, since I'm a Law & Order: SVU fan.

Both of the boys names are great; I love them both, but I caution with Kylie. I think it's a perfectly acceptable name... for anybody younger than 15. It wouldn't work for anybody in the workforce, or in college; it's not a name to be taken seriously. Kylie, in short, is very childish. Just something to think about. Elaine, however, is nice. :)

For a girl, may I suggest...?

Savannah is not bad. I wouldn't go with Callie. I wouldn't go with anything that sounds like a nickname. It's much better to use a name that can have nicknames made out of it, because then she can go by her full name in more formal circumstances, but you could still call her by the nickname. Sarah is beautiful and classic and timeless.

I love those, too. :)

You're welcome. Congrats on the baby!

I don't like Kylie (Kiley is slightly better, but Kylie looks blah), but I LOVE Benjamin. I like Benjamin Cabot the best.

Congratulations! I love Benjamin Parker! I actually thought about that as an option too (though I'm not nearly ready to have a baby just yet!) but I realized that it sounded really familiar to me because of Benjamin Barker, aka Sweeney Todd's real name (and I love that movie) But I'm sure that won't be a problem in the future :)

Benjamin is my favorite boy's name ever.

Kylie is cute, but I'm not overly in love with it. I noticed you mentioned Savannah later? I like that name too :) and Callie - I do really, really like that name, but more for a nickname than anything :)

Anyway, congrats again and good luck with naming your little baby :)

What about Kylie Minogue? Just food for thought.

I prefer Benjamin Cabot just because the name Parker isn't my favorite, but I don't mind Benjamin.

Kiley is actually really cute, and I used to love it, but only as a nickname for a little girl. What about Kiera or Kirsten with Kiley as a nickname? As for Callie (which you mentioned above), what about Katherine, Kathleen, Carmella, Calista, Cadence, or Caitlin?

My best friend is named Kylie, we're almost 20 and it still fits her. I think Kylie ages fine.

One of my best friends is named Kylie, so I'm going to go against the crowd here and say that it's not really all that cutesy. It works great because it's common enough that it's easy to spell and pronounce, but uncommon enough that she has only ever met one other Kylie. She'll be 20 in February and I find her name to be spunky, not childish. It fits her perfectly.

I'm not 100% about Kylie Elaine, though. Something about it doesn't fit to me. My friend is Kylie Lenore, which isn't my fave either. Some middles I like:
Kylie Adele
Kylie Beth
Kylie Claire
Kylie Corinne
Kylie Danielle
Kylie Grace
Kylie Juniper
Kylie Lorraine
Kylie Nicole
Kylie Noelle
Kylie Renee
Kylie Rose
Kylie Simone
Kylie Shea
Kylie Therese
Kylie Wren

I like Benjamin Cabot. Benjamin Parker is too close to Benjamin Barker (Sweeney Todd) for me.

I like Benjamin Cabot. I have to agree with most of the others, I don't like Kylie Elaine. Kylie won't age well, and it sounds like so many other popular names right now: Kayla, Kyra, Kylee, Keely, etc.

I love Caroline as someone suggested above.

Also:
Colleen
Helena
Adela

S names:
Suzanna
Samira
Sandra
Sabina
Serena
Shannon
Shasta
Sylvie

K names:
Katherine
Kara
Kimber
Kira

Good luck!

Gah! I could not think of where Benjamin Barker was from. I just knew it was a name I recognized. Thanks!

I can't think of Kylie as a real name - it just sounds like a nickname. However, I think Elaine is a beautiful name, either as a first or middle. I also like Benjamin; I don't care especially much for Cabot or Parker, but I prefer Cabot with Benjamin.

Thinking of them paired with Elaine, I especially like: Kara, Kira, Sandra, and Helena.

Yeah, Kylie is popular because of Kylie Minogue... just like Miley is popular because of Miley Cyrus. That doesn't really say a lot about the name.

Cabot reminds me of a cabbit. I much prefer Parker. But I love Benjamin, and Kylie Elaine is lovely.

I used to love Benjamin. Not so much anymore, but it's still a great name. As for Kylie, I'm not a huge fan, but my cousin's name is Kylie, she's twenty-one and it's ageing fine on her.

I prefer Benjamin Cabot. Kylie Elaine is cute, but NMS and a little bland.

Cat/rabbit crossbreed. I'm pretty sure they're not real but I read something about them one time, I dunno...

Uh, yeah.. not real, rabbits and cats can't interbreed. I found some interesting pics, though.:)

Haha exactly, when I read Cabot I was like, "What does that remind me of? Cabbits!" And then the picture popped into my head and made me chuckle and that ruined it as a name for me. But that's just me.
