I think I completely made this name up because I can't find it existing anywhere, even kabalarians.com!

But the name is Tylla.
For a girl, obviously.
It's pronounced tie-luh.

I really like it. When I thought of it, I was looking at the name Twyla.

So what do you all think?

I thought it was "Til-ah" when I first read it, until I got to the pronunciation.

It sounds like someone with an accent trying to say "Tyler."

I don't like it, at all. It may be "made-up" but it still totally fits in with the trendy names of late and it's definitely not one I can see working on anyone over the age of five. And it's even a stretch on a child under five.

I thought it read Tee la at first, like Tila Tequila.

It kind of sounds like you're saying Tyler in a New England accent (Ti-LAH). There was a girl I knew named "Tayla" and I alway thought of her name being "Taylor."

I read it as Tilla, and also think of it as a mispronunciation of Tyler, but if you like it, don't let our comments deter you from choosing it.

iawtc. Sounds like someone with a bad accent or missing teeth or something trying to say "Tyler."

I like Tilda and Twyla, but Tylla sounds like somebody saying Tyler in a funny way, like an affected 1930s movie star... "Tye-lahhhhhh, be a dear and bring the car around, would you?"

it's pretty, for a made-up name; though I would spell it Tyla, as Tylla looks like it should be till-uh

It's okay, but it doesn't sound like something that would age well to me.

I agree. I really do like it, but it would look better spelled with one 'L' :)

It reminds me of Tilex.

I don't agree with your spelling. To me double consonants always shorten the vowel sound before it (e.g. Wily = WILE-ee, Willy = WILL-ee) and so I read this as TILL-a.

If you spelled it Tyla it would make sense with the pronunciation you're going for.

I live in Australia where we don't pronounce the "r" on the end of words, so when the name Taylor became popular on girls, some people started spelling it as Tayla. If I saw Tyla, I would imagine it was a spelling variant of Tyler.

I like Twyla better (because of a Toni Morrison story).

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] krosp about the double consonant thing...I'd go with Tyla if you want that pronunciation.
