My grandmother's name was Una Audrey. What do you think about it? Personally, I really don't like it. My other grandmother is Sylvia (no middle name), which I also like a little, but not really. Because they are both grandmother's the names sound old to me lol

I am considering using Audrey and Sylvia (or varients), but am unsure whether as a first or second name. I'm also having trouble pairing it with another names. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you don't like the names but wish to use them, place one or both of them as middle names. Having two middle names isn't odd, and I think using Sylvia and Audrey, in whichever combo, could sound really nice, depending on the intended last name and the first one.

The only other variant of Sylvia I could find was Sylvie/Silvie, because every other variant sounds more or less the same. The variants of Audrey -- the ones I found on Behind the Name at least -- are quite out there...

The name that keeps popping in my head is Cecily Audrey, though the double '-ee' ending may be too much.

I like Audrey, Una is okay, and Sylvia is not my style at all. Behindthename.com has a nifty "related names" feature if you look up a name.

Sylvia was our #1 choice for a baby girl name, and my hubby and I both really liked it. Ill be honest though---everyone around us HATED IT. I mean..if I told anyone we were thinking of using it..the looks and comments got were just terrible. I was told it sounded nerdy, like a witch, too old, too weird, etc etc. We finally decided not to use it because of all the bad comments we got. Its a shame too, cause i think it is a really cute name.

i don't like una, but i like audrey. i think sylvia would make a nice middle name, but i don't like it enough to ever use it as a first name.

some alternatives:
aubrey
audra
auden (a lot of people seem to hate this name though)
sylvie

Not the OP but... how could someone hate the name Auden? Especially if they've read W.H. Auden's poems? People are strange.

Although, I think I like it better as a middle than a first name.

i know. i think it's a really nice, unique name, plus i think it has the potential to age well. the actor noah wyle has a daughter named auden. :]

I like Audrey. And I think Sylvie sounds cooler than Sylvia. I think they're both good as first names.

I thought Sylvia was an old sounding name until I actually met a Sylvia my first year of college. Since then, I've loved the name. Sylvia Maren comes to mind as a combination.

I think Audrey and many of the other varients are very cute.
However I really dislike Sylvia, as it reminds me of Saliva.

Audrey Rose & Audrey Elise were on my list.
