I've only ever met one person with the name Janine. What do you think of it? Personally I don't like it all that much, but I don't think I like any name with the "een" sound in it. I think it's a nice name though, just not for me.

When she was 6, she spelled it Ja9 :p

I went to school with 2 people named Janine (and one was a close friend) so I have a good association with the name. My friend Janine sometimes went by J9 or Nini.

it's okay, but I'll always associate it with the Baby-Sitters Club.

I just thought about, my cousin's middle name is Jeannine... pronounced the same way as Janine. I think I like her spelling better.

I'll also always associate the name Janine with Baby-Sitters Club books, but also the actress Janine Turner from the show Northern Exposure. It's one of my favorite names, and I love that spelling, as opposed to Jeannine, which I think has too many letters.

I find this name really difficult to spell, especially when you take into account Jeannnnneanne Girafaloeok-- dude, I give up. You know. It is a bad show-biz name.

Anyway, it doesn't strike me as a friendly name, probably because people named Janine are propbably perpetually annoyed at being called "Jean" or "Genie" or having their names mispelt.

NMS

It's decidedly late 80s/early 90s and too trashy, IMO. I've only ever known one and, well..

The Ja9 thing is kinda cute, would be cuter if nine was pronounced neen. :P

that'd be my name. Born in 1983. It's kind of a weird situation where my name came from. My mom knew a family growing up with kids that all had "J" names. Janine was one of them. Then my dad liked it because of the David Bowie song.

I do have a few friends that call me Ja9, but then again, I have a friend K8.

My sister had a friend named Janine that was completely obnoxious. I can't think of the name without picturing her making disgusting faces.

My name is Janine! I don't care about having to explain the spelling, and I really love my name. I was named after my French aunt who used to drive my father around Paris really fast, haha.
