My daughters name is Ceilidh Rhiannon,  a celebration of her Celtic heritage. Im expecting another child in a few months and im stuck on a girls name or combinations of girls names.

Ceilidh is pronounced Kaylee. I am really liking the name Seren (pronounced like Sairen) its a welsh word/name meaning star. but i cannot think of a middle name. 

There are 12 years between the two children.

any ideas?

I would have never guessed that was Kaylee in a million years. Generally I don't really care for names that don't sound like they are spelled. I prefer Ser-en over Sairen but I understand it wouldn't be the same name.

I really love Celtic spellings. Are you looking for another Celtic name? Two names I like are Caoimhe and Ailidh (but that one is probably too close to your daughter's name even though it is for a middle name).

Occasionally but its mainly only the Celts who can do it. We live in Australia, so she has had some interesting sounding guesses but it has never seemed to bother her. People who know folk music also have an advantage in saying her name. As its actually a Gaelic word meaning social gathering or party. Her father was a musician, so it didnt seem all that odd to us. lol. i can see how it might confuse others. Haha. We moved to a very small town (pop. 300) and her school councilors name was Ceilidh, that was lucky i thought.

Its another language. But i dont really understand it. Welsh is the worst of them all. (her father is welsh, so this seemed kinda tame next to some of the welsh names we looked at). lol.

i dont know if i am looking for another Celtic name really. but i do like the sound of them. and well Lucy (though i love it) might seem alittle odd next to Ceilidh. lol. I do like Caoimhe. and Ailidh or Eilidh are alittle close but i love them both. *smiles*

i toyed with using Ser-en, but then i think messing with other language pronunciations isnt great. I actually liked ceilidh as it was alittle odd, but sounded normal... and figured she could change it if it bugged her. I feel the same about Seren, it almost sounds like Sara, so weird spelling but easy to say. *shrugs*

it was a celebration of her and her fathers heritage. and really it hasnt caused her any problems. but i can understand why it wouldnt mean anything to you. or to other people.

I'm always kind of confused when people refer to 'Celtic' names. Is it Irish, Gaelic, Manx, Cornish, Welsh, etc. etc.? I mean, it's a pretty broad term.

Gaelic names confuse the heck out of me. I'm from a predominantly Spanish-speaking background, so they all look like "Alasjdf;lasdjfa;lsd" to me. I do give you props for being proud of your heritage and giving your children names that reflect it, though.

Not a lot of people speak gaelic anymore! It is just nice to see something other than the popular "Kaylee" spelling. Plus... Ceilidh is completely different than Kaylee! I personally love it!

*smiles* thanks. i always thought it was quite beautiful. Her father played Ceilidh's whilst a musician in the UK. though they often drop the dh now and spell them Ceili.

Some of those names do look like random letters. But i guess other foreign names look like that to me too. to each their own i guess. she loves her name (and at 12 thats a rare thing i think) and i still think its beautiful and meaningful. *smiles*.

I know, sometimes it can seem a bit much; but other times they mesh well. Isobel is the Scottish form of Isabelle, so it's a subtle note.

My family is very Irish, I was really close to being named Siobhan, but got Shannon at the very last minute because my Da was convinced no one would ever be able to spell/say Siobhan correctly.

Oh my god, I love Ceilidh! I think that that is such a pretty name, and it's spelling it that way is the only way that I can stand to say Kaylee. I saw it on television awhile back, and I think it's so pretty. I knew what it was when I saw it! I don't like Rhiannon, but it makes a nice name with Ceilidh.

I suck with middle names though, so, sorry.

im kinda stuck too. Im liking Isobel now that its been suggested. and i like Seren Elizabeth. but i dunno. i dont feel any real connection to the elizabeth part. *smiles* i love Ceilidh too. and Keeley is one of my favs but its abit close to Ceilidh for me. Rhiannon came from her fathers niece, but i much preferred Rhian. but it seemed to flow nicely. As a side note Ceilidh has two middle names i threw in Daisy at the last min, even though it didnt go, because when i was five, i told my mum i would grow up and have a little girl just like me and i would call her Daisy. lol. so i did. *smiles*

Niamh is beautiful and had thought of that as a first name. My mum dreamt i had a little girl called Seren a few months back, and in her dream she tried to change the name cos she knew my partner didnt like it much, and all she got was Star. He likes Star. so i made him a deal. She can be called Seren, and he can call her StarBaby as a nickname. *smiles*
