[identity profile] pocketfuloflove.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

EDIT:

My fiance and I have either decided on Kayleigh Anne or Kayleigh Rayne.
Thanks you guys, well, some of you!

I with-held most of my rude comments towards some rude people, because, fighting with a fool makes two.

:-)

Oh, and we haven't thought of a boy's name but oh well, we will eventually! :)

I agree with the name "Jade"

Or maybe make it more meaningful?
What is your, or your husband's, Grandmother's, Great Grandmother's, Mother's name and middle names?
Maybe one of those will sound nice! :)

A 2 syllable name with the accent on the second syllable flows the best to me. A strong 1 syllable name could work too.

Kayleigh Noelle
Kayleigh Elise
Kayleigh Nicole
Kayleigh Nadine
Kayleigh Renee

Kayleigh Jade
Kayleigh Jeanne
Kayleigh Anne

and some middle name advice that may or may not help which I randomly found one day and knew would come in handy eventually: http://www.namenerds.com/uucn/advice/middle.html

Some people mentioned Kayleigh Jade but that scares me because it's too close to Hayley Jade, which is Eminem's daughter's name.

It's actually spelled Hailie and not Hayley.

I'll be the first mean one to say that Kaylie (in any spelling) is overused and will not age well. she won't be a cute little baby forever....

I have to agree. I know an 18-year-old named Kaylee, and it seems ridiculous. It doesn't fit at all.

I don't think they're saying your baby won't age well with the name, but that the name won't age well (with your baby)

It also strikes me as a name better fitted for a younger girl than an adult, but a lot of people also said similar things about Ashleys and Jennifers in the 80s, and well... now they ARE the adults. Not everyone needs to love that name, only yo do. So if you like it, go for it. And hopefully, she'll like it too! It's not like you're naming her Honey or Pookie or anything

Okay, calm down. No one is insulting you or your baby. If you come to this community and post potential names, people are going to comment on them, especially since you never explicitly stated that you didn't want opinions. If you can't handle hearing what people think, do not post publicly on the internet.

I never said *she* won't age well, I said the name doesn't age well. she'll probably grow up into a fine adult, maybe even mature beyond her years.. which will make having a cutesy little girl name that much more absurd.

All I'll say about this is that the Kayleigh I know is 19 and still acts like she's about 5. She's constantly throwing hissy fits, pouting, and wearing her hair in absurd pigtails with ribbon. That's just my personal experience.

She's Kayleigh Elise so don't name her that, lol.

I know someone with a little girl named Haley Jade. I was so sad.

Yeah, it's a bit too cutesy for me when I think of an adult. I don't mind little kids with adult names (alas, everyone has to grow up) but adults with cutesy names like Betsy? It makes me cringe a little.

Sweetie, I'm sorry, I'm going to have to jump on the bandwagon and say that I don't think Kayleigh is a good name--or at least, spelling, for your daughter.

I just don't understand why you have to go out there and put the "eigh" ending. Kaylee, or Kayley are nice spellings. It just seems like you're trying too hard with Kayleigh, you know?

And, again, Kayleigh seems a bit too...cutesy. I really can't imagine that name on an adult. Think, Grandma Kayleigh? Kayleigh the accountant?
The thing with names is that you have to choose them to match whatever life your child may lead. Kayleigh isn't the name a doctor would have. The reason my little brother isn't a Jack is because my dad couldn't imagine a Supreme Court judge being named Jack.

You have plently of time hopefully to reconsider the first name--if you choose to do so.

Agreed. It's a cute nickname for a little girl, but I don't care for it on a child that is going to grow up into a successful adult. Personally, I find it a really boring name that blends right in with current trends. Kaylie, Haylie, Baylie, Jaylie, Kylie, Riley, Miley, etc. are very cutesy and boring. Plus, I personally would avoid names that can be spelled a kazillion ways. Kayleigh, Kaylie, Kaelie, Kalee, etc.

Now, that said, I don't think it's an awful choice, just not one I like to hear or see. Have you thought about Kayla, Cara, or Kate? They're simpler, less trendy names that sound reasonable on a successful adult. Good luck!

at least Betsy is normally short for Elizabeth, and has the choice to go with the full name, or any of the acceptable variants.

I love the name Rain/Raine/Rayne. Unsure how I would spell it though.

My two cents: I also think Kayleigh is an awful name.
