I was reading the latest issue of Essence and found this name among its pages, given to a little girl:

Errianna

Yes, that's supposed to be Arian(n)a.  According to Behind the Name, it can be pronounced with the 'air' sound, but I find it awful that the parents actually went down the 'spell it how it sounds' path. WDYT?

Oh, and any other crazy spellings of perfectly nice names have you found?

I think it might have been pretty with just one "r", so it would have been "Erianna" or "Eriana", but that's just my opinion. I think the double r is pushing it, definitely.

The double 'rr' makes it look...wrong. It reminds me of 'error'.

A boy in my daughter's preschool class is Jaysun. Everytime I see that name on his cubby, I think "why, why, why would you do this?!?!"

To err is human, to forgive divine.
