I was listening to the musical group The Kelly Family and decided to share their names. The first four kids are just his.

Parents:
Daniel Jerome "Dan" Kelly & Barbara Ann Kelly

Kids:
Daniel Jerome "Danny" Kelly
Caroline Kelly
Kathleen Ann "Kathy" Kelly
Paul Kelly
John Michael "Johnny" Kelly
Maria Patricia "Patricia" Kelly
James Victor "Jimmy" Kelly
Joseph Maria "Joey" Kelly
Barbara Ann "Barby" Kelly
Michael Patrick "Paddy" Kelly
Maite Star Kelly
Angelo Gabriele Kelly

So what do you think?

Have you ever seen Maria used for a boy before?

Also what would you name another male and another female born to this family?

In the catholic italian tradition it's quite common to have Maria as a middle name for boys. I had a Luca Maria and a Simone Maria in my class in elementary school.

What I find most odd among those names is Angelo Gabriele, which is the only italian name of the pack, and it's also the angel that announced the pregnancy to the Virgin Mary, so it's like a phrase to me.

They're obviously on the catholic side with that and all that Maria going around.

I don't care for the others, but I really like Maite Star, although I have no clue on how to pronounce Maite.

Maria as a male middle (or Joseph as a female middle) were quite common in past centuries. Many composers, for example Carl Maria von Weber (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Maria_von_Weber), serve as lasting name evidence.

I really don't like any of those names! Well...except for Joseph.

And yeah, actually my uncle has Maria as a middle name. It's pretty common in Catholic faith. I would never ever use it as a first name on a boy though, that would just be weird.

Several of these names are in my family:
Daniel (uncle), Kathleen (aunt), Ann (mom), Paul (dad), John (uncle), Michael (cousin), Patricia (aunt), James (cousin), Joseph (great-grandfather), Barbara Ann (aunt)...
Jose Maria is quite a common Hispanic name, in reference to both Mary & Joseph.

If there were another boy and girl I'd say: Kevin Raymond and Janet Claire.

Daniel Jerome - i really hate jerome. daniel is boring to me.
Barbara Ann - i hate barbara and ann seems like a filler.

Daniel Jerome - ditto with the dad.
Caroline Kelly - i like caroline, but not paired w/kelly.
Kathleen Ann - i like kathleen, but not kathy. i think the only acceptable nickname for a kathleen would be kat.
Paul - it's alright.
John Michael - i don't like john. michael is okay.
Maria Patricia - i like maria way more than patricia, but i'm not a fan of either.
James Victor - i like james, but not victor.
Joseph Maria - maria on a boy? :(
Barbara Ann - (see above)
Michael Patrick - not a fan of patrick.
Maite Star - this doesn't seem to fit in with the other names at all!
Angelo Gabriele - no thanks.
