It's ok. Similar to Brianna, I suppose, although I like Brianna more than Briella. I'm not a huge fan of it but there's a lot worse out there, I don't mind it.

It might derive from Gabriella? Actually when I first got into naming communities online (maybe about 3-4 years ago) heaps of people seemed to be into Brielle or Briella, and I haven't heard it for years.

Yeah I have heard of Brielle before and also Abrielle, but never Briella. I don't think it's ugly but I dont love it. And yeah all those names are derived from Gabrielle/a

It's OK as a nickname for Gabriella, but I think it looks strange by itself. I prefer Brielle. Made-up -ella names always remind me of microscopic organisms.
