I met a woman at work today that has two daughters named Alexandra (Ally) and Shelby Lynn. Alexandra is OK, but Shelby Lynn makes me want to barf. It sounds so hick.

BTW, WDYT of Allyriane? It's an unusual name I just heard of. It's French and comes from "lyre".

Allyriane looks awful. Seriously. It looks like a bunch of letters randomly thrown together to make a name for which Allie could be a nickname.

I love Alexandra. Shelby isn't my style, but I do kind of like it. I hate Ally spelled that way, though -- it makes me want to say it like al-eye, since that's the way the word is pronounced. I like it better as Ali or Allie.

Shelby is a very tomboy name to me. I really don't like it, especially in that combination. Alexandra, on the other hand, is one of my favourite names.

I think Allyriane is really pretty, although the Y in the middle looks odd. It sounds better than it looks with this spelling.

Allyriane might work in France, but the spelling and pronunciation would be butchered in America. I dislike it for those reasons alone.
