What do you guys think of the name Creighton? My mom and dad want that to be my baby brother's name when he's born it's not a for sure. But what do you think of it? Oh, and any suggestions would be fine too but it can't be popular names my mom hates popular names.

I personally don't like it... but that's just me.
I guess you could call him "Tony" for a nickname?

I like it. I went to school with a guy that had the same name. He was cool.
How about.....
Alexavier, Ambrose, Ulric, or Draven

It's okay. It'll be unique but it sounds kind of stuffy to me. Ultimately it's up to your Mom and Dad... there are worse names out there!

Awful.
1)sounds like creature
2)sounds like cretin- which is rude
3)'eigh' is female version the the 'ee' sound.. i have always thought at least.
Talk them out of it!!

Did your parents go to school there?

That's all I can think of, is the school.

I was wondering this too.

I first thought CRY-tin, but it's probably CRAY-tin

I'm not a huge fan because it reminds me of the word 'cretin' which is an insult in many places - basically it means a an insenstive or rude person or moron. It's hard for me to get past that to decide if I like the name or not.

It kind of reminds me of Michael Crichton which reminds me of Jurassic Park and then it's all down hill from there.

It does remind me of Michael Crichton, but he is one of my all time favorite authors, so I don't think it's horrible. As someone already mentioned, the Jurassic Park tcraze is what most people think of when they hear Michael Crichton, so it might not be a good idea after all.

I guess if you're Canadian, it might not be an issue. But it's a question you'd hear fairly often from Americans anyway. Try googling it. The entire first page is filled with Creighton University links.

And the school is pronounced CRAY-ton.

When I found out it was actually Crighton not Creighton, it reminded me of the word "cretin"... terrible association. And even having the sound "cry" in his name isn't nice either.

Can you convince them to make it a middle name instead?

If I went to school with a boy named Crighton, I'd be tempted to say his name with an Australian accent all the time. You know, instead of, "Crykey!" it would be, "Crighton!"

Yipes.

Except for Ambrose, I'd stay away from any of those as well.

Even though I love Farscape..
I still don't like the name
being a first name. And personally
telling the son he's named after
an Actor? eek.
