I need desperate help for a boys name. My SO is very very picky. He really wants "richard laurence barry III"
And I refuse to recycle a name that I dont even like. I didnt get to pick his name, but I can pick this one!

-The last name is Barry.
-He seems to like more common names. I like names that can be shortened.
-I LOVE Luke, Dylan, Mason. he hates all of those :(

We have decided on the girls name, Katelynn Elise Barry.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!! Im running out of ideas!
Thanks :)

I think it's a shame to take a family name that's been passed down and not use it, unless the name is terrible, which Richard isn't, IMO.

What about using the name your SO "really wants", but coming up with a nickname you like? I know a little boy who's Something III, and he goes by "Trey" for three.

Why does it really matter? If she doesn't like it, why should she have to name her kid that just because her so and his dads name was that? That's kind of lame.

to the poster:

I really like Luca, which is a form of Luke, and I don't like Dylan AT ALL because it is so overused. I get a picture of a jar in my head when I hear Mason. hahaha.

Ethan is a common name, but one I really like. And Tyler too. Connor, Seth, Jakob, and Peter are nice too.

She doesn't have to, but it's worth considering since it's important to her SO. I think using the family name with a nickname she likes is a good compromise, but she can feel free to disagree.

How about Jacob or Joshua...both fairly common and with good nicknames.

I'm not real big on recycling names either. If you don't like it don't let any one try to pressure you into using your SO's name...especially your SO.
I really like Luke and Mason.
How about James, Jack, Christopher, Tristan, Samuel, Joshua, Nathaniel, Gabriel, Dominick, Preston....I think that is all I can think of at the top of my head.

I'm with you, I don't like the idea of family names as a first name- unless you like it so much, you'd use it even if it wasn't significant.
I really don't like the name Richard..
I like Luke, Dylan & Mason.. i LOVE Lucas though.
I also like:
Ethan
Joshua
Elliott
Jake
Connor
Liam (maybe William as a first name, shortened to Liam.. since you likle names that can be shortened)

yeah. Maybe you could use this: http://www.behindthename.com/random/ You can just check english if you want normalish names and keep refreshing the page for names, you get a lot of choices. haha.

Um... I got an idea that may please both you and SO... keep his intials, keep the middle name and just pick a name you like better starting with an "R"

ie.
Reid Laurence
Riley Laurence
Ryker Laurence
Ryan Laurence
Rueben Laurence
Rowan Laurence
Rory Laurence
Ronan Laurence
Romy Laurence
Rhett Laurence
Rhys Laurence
Reagen Laurence
Reid Laurence
Rainer Laurence
Ryan Laurence

... I don't know, it's an idea at least.

The above poster's idea for "Laurence" as a middle name is a wonderful suggestion! Compromise! :D
