Hello all, I'm new here. My name is Marissa. I'd like your opinion on a few names my fiance and I came up with that we like.

Shawn Kian, Shawn Patrick, Shawn Adair, Shawn Willys (Willys is my grandfather's name, pronounced like Bruce Willis), OR all together different.. Toby James.

Rae Michelle, Regina Marie, or Athena Marie.

I'm heartset on naming a son of mine Shawn.. so if you know any middle name that would go well with it, let me know!

Shawn Patrick and Shawn Willys are good, but maybe you could consider spelling it Willis? Because with that spelling you are just begging for him to be teased!

I like Shawn with any of those middle names, but I only like it spelled Sean. Spelling it phonetically just looks cheap to me. Plus, Sean is a more common spelling, so he wouldn't be correcting people on it as often.

i disagree that sean is the more common spelling, i think shaun is the most common variation. but i like the name shaun/shawn (cant stand the spelling sean, it bugs me to no end every time i see it) and it sounds great with patrick. i dont really like your girls names, sorry. rae is cute, but as a middle name or nickname or something.

As for Toby - it's cute for a dog or a little boy, but a grown man? Yikes.

People dont frequently get teased for their middle names since you dont have to disclose your middle name to many people so id stick with the sentimental spelling since thats the whole purpose of using that name!

that actually depends on where you're from i think because i've known/heard of millions of shawns and very little seans. Sean irks me to no end but that's besides the point.

I was curious so I checked to see if I was right- mothers naming a baby Sean had an average of 14.12 years of education, vs. 12.72 years for Shawn (according to Freakonomics). The spelling Sean was also more popular- #65 vs. #171.
