What would you have been named if you weren't named what you were named?

Or, to be less dense, what other names did your parents consider for you and your siblings?

I could have been:
Joee (yuck - one of mom's top choices)
Brandee (yuck - ditto)
Daphne (meh - mom overruled because she didn't want me to be called Daffy)
Tiffany (yuck - ditto above, but Tiffy)
Scott Anthony (if I had been a boy) - (meh. Not horrible, but not great)

My sister is: Summer Lynn

She could have been:
Joshua Ray (yuck) (Ray was after her father) - this is now my cousin's name

i'm naomi stevens (stevens being my grandmother's maiden name).

it depends on who you ask. my mother says that she wanted to name me "naomi rose" but my father didnt want me to be called "rosie" (he's from the south and calling people by their middle names is a very common occurrence). i was born w/ a winestain that covers most of my right leg, so i was "rosy" when i was born.

if i was a boy i wouldve been nicholas according to my mother and grady according to my father. my dad has a favorite uncle grady and i actually quite like that name, but my mother hated it. so much so that my older brother was named by our then 10 yr old half-sister because my parents couldnt agree (my dad wanted grady, my mother wanted jvnvlvsga which was a cherokee hero....the Vs are our 6th vowel, pronounced "juhnuhluhsga"). my brother's name is jonathan.

I'm Amy Lynne but I was almost named Jennifer Lynne. My parents had called me "Jenny" the whole pregnancy. When I was born my mom said I didn't look like a Jenny so they thought about it for a few weeks (!) and then decided on Amy.
I would of been Jeffery William if I had been a boy.

For a girl they picked either Jennifer or Jessica...for a boy I was going to be Benjamin Darren Alfred.

With my older brother they also considered Jessica...app. they were all for popular names... he ended up a Jason Peter Gerritt.

Had we both been boys, we both would have had middle names after each grandfather.

They were thinking about Lucy, and I was Kezia Mary for a few days until my dad changed his mind at the last minute.

I ended up as Sophia Mary Kate.

They knew my brother was a boy, he was going to be Guy Charles, Zach Charles, or Jack Charles.

They went with Max Charles.

We have the same middle name because my mom wanted to name my sister (who is 11.5 years younger than me and technically only my half-sister) after me and her other half-sister (on her dad's side), whose name is Lindsay.

Plus, there's a tendency in my family to give siblings the same middle name, though it's usually Jo or Kay for girls (and Ward or William for boys).

I'm Antonina Marie, which was the definitive female name my parents picked out. If I was a boy, I would have been Benedict (ugh) or Dominic.

My sister's name is Carissa Louise, but she was very nearly Olivia Louise.

If I hadn't been Alison, I would have been Emily. My mum also liked Stephanie and Celeste, but the only other major contender was Emily, and they were always pretty sure they'd name me Alison. If I had been a boy, I would have been Alexander. If my sister (Sarah) had been a boy, she would have been Paul. My mum liked Vincent, but my dad hated it.

My name is Stephanie. My parents said they were also considering naming me Heather (I'm glad they didn't). They also said that they were really glad I wasn't a boy, because they couldn't agree on any boy names for me.

My brother's name is David. I have no idea what they were going to name him if he had been a girl, but up until his birth they had planned on naming him Alexander. My Mom took one look at him when he was born, though, and said that he didn't look like an Alex.

I'm Kristy Marie, and my mom was pretty much set on Kristy since high school, so since my dad agreed quickly, there was no alternative girls name for me. If I was a boy, I could have been Paul Jasper III, Cody Paul, or Vicenzo Paul.

For my sister, they knew they were having a girl. They thought about naming her Katie Lynn and calling her Kaitlyn, naming her Katilyn Marie and calling her Katie, but then eventually my mom decided she wanted to name her what she called her and vice versa. So her name is Katie Michelle.

My mom wanted to name me Mary Anne. Thank the gods my dad wouldn't let her name me that. I hate the name Mary; it's boring and common and makes me sound like a nun.
If I was a boy I would've been named Jerimiah. And I think they also considered Sebastian, which I love. My dad liked Treavor (I think that was it), but my mom hated it.
I ended up being Ema. Yes, it's Ema, not Emma, but it's pronounced the same.

if i were a boy, i would've been aidan george (before aidan was popular! this was '87). george is after my paternal grandpa. my parents also liked the name adam though.
