So my boyfriend LOVES the name Cole for our soon-to-be son. (After Joe Cole, the soccer player)
I like it, but it just seems not complete for me.. like it should be a nickname for another name.

I'm trying to find names where Cole can be the nickname.

So far we've come across:

Colton - he hates this name
Colby - I love it, but it might be kinda wimpy

Are there any other names that you guys can think of?

TIA

Colin? Or Nicholas. It's kind of a stretch, but if you give him a full name like Nicholas, and introduce him to everyone as Cole, people will probably call him Cole. Or you could just use Cole, it's a pretty decent name on its own.

I can't think of any others that no one else has said. But what about Cole for a middle name?

Colman/Coleman
Colmar
Colby

Lincoln...? Maybe that's too much of a stretch ;)

In my experience it's either cawl-yer or Collie-er (like the dog breed with an R), the first being how I've heard it pronounced around my very southern home town

Nicholas.

I know it seems like a stretch, but I know a ton of Nicholases who go by Cole. And it's a nice, classic name that doesn't sound super trendy like Colton and Colby, and, unlike those names, it grows up well.

Another possibility: Colson?

I think I actually prefer Cole on its own, to be honest.

I can only think of Nicholas, since I had a teacher who has a son named that but called Cole.

Definitely Nicholas or Colin. Don't really like Colby (it's a cheese!), Colton, etc.

My second grade teacher's last names was Colson. She gave her kid a really nice name, like... Alexander David or something, then called him Cole. I always thought that was dumb.

Nicholas? Was originally shortened to Colin, Col and Cole...

My uncle's middle name is Coleman...it always reminds me of camping gear.

Nicholas and Colden were all I could think of. I think Cole is a great name or nickname though, just my 2 cents.

i agree that cole is too short! i really like the idea of having it as a nickname for nicholas.

colby is definitely too wimpy!! drives me crazy when i meet little boys named cody or colby or something like that. i always think 'yea its cute, but how cute is it going to be when he is 17/40/65? poor things.
