[identity profile] miss--nikki.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My sister and I had created a list we amde (very quickly) of names we maybe liked. I thought I lost it, but I just found it today.

Here is what's on it. I'm adament about having a girl so these are only girl names. (I won't know what we are having until another 3.5 weeks though.)

Ella
Layla
Elise
Georgia
May or Mae I don't know
Summer
Mable
Belle
Starla (my sisters fave, but she's weird)

What do people think of Jane? I know it's plain Jane, but how many people do you actually know with that name? (Now, I'll get 100 comments of 50 million people who know Janes) I have always though it was cute.

I like:
Ella, Layla, Georgia, Summer & Belle

One of my friends' favorite name is Jayne (she adds a 'y' so it doesn't look so 'plain jane')... I don't know if I like it... maybe as a middle name?

I actually really like Jane, and I've never known a Jane either. I know a Jan, and I've known a Janna, but no Jane's yet.

Nice list :)
I like Summer the best, but I'm big on the seasonal names.
I know too many Ella's, and Belle was kind of the name of my (boy) dog growing up so I don't think I'll ever see that as a good girl's name.

The only Jane's I know are 40 and over. Darling for a baby because nobody uses it now.

Belle and Bella have become too trendy.

I like Georgia. Ella is nice but have you thought about Elle?

Georgia, Mae and Elise are pretty.

I think Georgia Mae flows really well.

The only Jane's I know are 50 odd. Personally, I don't like it.

I like Mae.
I only know one Jane, who's in her 50s.
I have a feeling the kid would get asked about Tarzan a lot, though.

Ella: Love it! Love Ellie too.
Layla: She'll get sung to all the time, but it is a pretty name.
Elise: So pretty!
Georgia: This was my crazy great-grandmother's name, so I associate it with her.
May or Mae I don't know: It's a cute name. I prefer Mae, so it's associated less with the month.
Summer: I love Summer! I want to use it when I have a little girl, but my SO hates it.
Mable: Mabel? It's alright. I don't like it for some reason, but I can't figure out why.
Belle: Cute.
Starla: Really don't like it.

I've only known one Jane. I like the name. Cute, classic, simple, not too common. Janie is a cute nickname too.

I adore Starla, I thought I was the only one, lol!! I have always pushed for that name but hubby won't have it, he said it is a stripper name.

I also like Summer and Belle, but I prefer Bella.

Good luck with your girl, I've been trying for a girl for years and all boys so far :(

Hey, they asked me to name him, and I was 4 at the time! I can't exactly recall it as it was 19 years ago, but I think my sister made two lists, one with boy dog names and one with girl dog names. I don't know why she made the girl list, but hey, she was a kid too. She tried to get me to name him Max, but I thought Belle was prettier, and he was a pretty, pretty dog (half samoyed, half black lab). Later on we tried to change it to Bill or Billy, but that didn't work. Even later on we added an 'H' so it was Bhelle. He was a wild one and we though "hell" needed to be in his name somewhere. That and Bhelle didn't look quite as girly. Maybe.

Haha, your friend's dog and your mom have the same name? That's cute!

hehe, I know an Ella and a Georgia who are sisters. Ella is short for Eleanor. I like both of those, as well as Elise and Layla.

Jane is nice but I only knew two Janes. One was the sweetest girl in the world, the other was a butch lesbian. For some reason, it's the butch that sticks in my head when I think of the name :/

I like:

Ella
Layla
Jane

I don't know any Janes; I think it got a reputation for being common way back when so people stopped using it so much and now it's probably not that common at all.

I love love love and more love Jane. and look! it isn't common at all! My husband hates it though, so I have had to put it as a middle name. He doesn't know that I still plan to call that kid by her full name, hehe

I love the name Jane. I think it's so gorgeous.
I know a little girl named Briella Maeryn [May-rin], and I suppose that incorporates Elle/a, Bella, Mae/May.
We call her Ella, Ella Mae when she's being cute. [she's 2]
