[identity profile] dcrachel.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My husband and I just found out we're having a girl! Sadly, we both "felt" it was a boy and only decided on a boy name! Of course we are happy to be having a girl, but we have a harder time with names. Then my brother, who's wife is due with a baby six weeks before me, goes and picks a name almost identical to our front runner! Very funny. Anyway, here is our top five (plus one) list we have going now. We are big on family/traditional/classic names. Feel free to comment, or suggest alternates if you are looking at our list going "hey, that's a lot like my list, and I love _____."

Thanks!

Amelia
Clara
Evelyn
Katherine
Margot
and Mary Alice, which we'll use if my brother doesn't name his daughter Alice six weeks before me!

I'm the complete opposite, I can think of so many girl names I love but when it comes to boy names...blank. Congrats on your girl!

I love Alice! I hope your brother doesn't name his daughter that so you can use it, because it's awesome.

I also like Amelia and Evelyn a lot. Clara and Katherine are both great, too, but I prefer Clare and Catherine. Margot is the only one I don't like because the name always makes me think of maggots. What about Margaret? Or if you're set on Margot, what about dropping the t? Margo is still an acceptable spelling of the name, and it gets rid of that connotation.

awwwwww I like Mary Alice soooo much!!!
I'm a huge fan of Mary + name combinations, I usually like weird/unexpected names to go with it, and Alice does trick even without being out-there :)

I really like Alice in itself, anyway. I really hope you get to name your daughter that :))

Another combo I like is Mary Lou.

Great ones on your list are Evelyn and Clara!!

I love Amelia and Katherine. Evelyn is nice, and so is Clara. I'm not big on Margot, because it makes me think of "escargot." Yeah, I'm weird. Mary Alice is pretty but Desperate Housewives ruined it for me.

Other names you might like...hrm. Elisabeth, Josephine, Anna, Eleanor, Emma, Caroline, Claire, Rose, Lily, Lillian, Tessa.

Oh, how odd. When I was growing up, my friend and I created imaginary families, and my three children were Margot, Noah, and Evelyn.

I agree. And I have never once thought of maggots while looking at the name. I prefer to spell it with a t.
